Welcome to the start of the photo journal for the Law Offices of Ogre and Ogre.
I received an Ironblaster for Christmas, and after some deliberating, decided to turn it into the head partners' big fancy car. There is still a lot of painting and custom molding to do. I intend to upgrade the driver gnoblar to give him a fancy hat and a nice outfit, and plan to use the remaining gnoblars to act as the fancy upgrades (GPS, seat warmer, cup holder, etc.)
When I get the opportunity, I'll post some photos of the rest of my army.
First time using the attachments to attempt to post pictures. If this works, then here is the work in progress:

Been busy, but figured I would post an update. Here is my Ironblaster Mercedes and it's almost completed driver. I still need to finish molding his top hat, attaching his whip, and painting him.
Once this is done, I need to start working on converting the leadbelcher to have a nice suit, and I need to mold his chair. It's not proper for the passenger to have to stand up in his own car.
So far as the current painting is concerned, I'm really happy with the support tusks and with how the cannon turned out.
LawGnome18 Feb 2014
New update!
Today, I have 3 new updates: 2 photos of the newly painted head partner, with cell phone and cup, and 1 of the driver sitting in his seat.
I am still working on the seat, which still needs some molding and painting. Once that is done, I'll be working on 2 gnoblars: one to be the cup holder, and one to be acting as the seat heater.
Once I am done with the ironblaster proper, I'll get the base done, then get started on my court clerks on mournfang (they need the speed of the mournfang to ensure that they can get the court opinions delivered into the defense's skulls as soon as possible). I think I'll be crafting some overflowing document bins for behind the ogre.
Apologies for the low camera quality: only so much you can do with an ipod.

Haha, oh boy. This will be one unique ogre tribe indeed! It might be time consuming, but I hope you won't give up on these fellas.
I just want to say that English ain't my mother tongue, so it is far from perfect and I can just hope that you guys can understand me. And feel free to point out my spelling errors or major grammatical mistakes :]
LawGnome20 Feb 2014
While I'm waiting for dinner to finish, I figured I would post the next couple of images in the series.
Here are my process servers. I just picked up second battalion box, so these will get increased to at least 6 at some point.
I am still molding the chair for my ironblaster, and then need to start building mournfang. Much to do, but that's definitely the fun of the whole thing.
Conogre21 Feb 2014
Still looking very funny! Will be interesting to see how those moulded chairs turn out!
Keep us posted!

I'm still working on the hunter, and don't have much new to show on that just yet.
So, in the meantime, here are some photos of my ironblaster Mercedes, which is getting closer and closer to completion.
First, a photo of the chair, sans ogre:
Same chair, different angle:
Side view with ogre:
Front view with ogre:
All that is left is to decide if I like the paint job on the chair, glue everything down, make an asphalt base for him to be driving on, and then start making gnoblars for cup holders and seat warmers.
In the meantime, I have a hunter to make and mournfang to work on. I will post more in the hunter thread as I go. Working on his weapon now. Once that's done, it should be a lot more clear as to what direction my hunter is going.
Gnoblar_Herder03 Mar 2014
Nice work on the chair guy...he looks awesome. The chair looks good to me buddy.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing your Hunter too!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. Makes this more fun.
Alright, a quick update on the hunter, specifically, his main weapon!
It should be a little clearer as to what kind of hunter this is going to be. I still don't want to spoil a few of the finer points, but I can't wait to display them once the rest of it comes together.
Also, it doesn't show up very well in this photo, but this little beauty is double barreled for double the fun. I'm considering adding a detachable scope for use as a surrogate blood vulture, and maybe shortening the stock once I've seen it on the model.
LawGnome10 Jul 2014
It's been some time, but I wanted to show off my latest bit of work:
Presenting, my BSB!
This custom crafted beauty comes with a hand crafted (and overstuffed) briefcase (which functions quite well as a hand weapon. Ogre engineering at its best) and is holding a finely crafted and painted Rune Maw!
Looking forward to playing my first game with this milliput wonder
I still need to finish up the base, but I was too excited not to post it as it currently stands.
Gnoblar_Herder11 Jul 2014
This BSB looks amazing mate. The whole concept of the army was really interesting. If I'm being honest I had thought that you had given up on it, so it is really nice to see you "back on the clock" with your ogres.
Excellent work, nice concept/ theme can't wait to see more of them.

Not going to lie, your Ogres are simply epic! I feel that is the best adjective I can come up with as it is very well done, creative, unique, hilarious, and a plethora of other great things! Simply epic my friend!!!
LawGnome11 Jul 2014
@G_H:
Definitely not giving up on my ogres. I've just been busy with work and moving to a new house. For some reason that takes up a bunch of time
I actually have several other models done and painted that I'll be posting in the next week or so. I have 2 mournfang done, 6 leadbelchers done, and then 6 each of ironguts and ogres.
My next conversion project is probably going to be my tyrant. Going to make him a judge, complete with a white wig
@ Captain Urga:
Thank you! Glad you like them!
Zolas11 Jul 2014
Wow I sort of missed this and unsure how I did. I really love the army theme indeed really funny and a truly unique character. Touches like the mobile phone arm chair and paper(cut) cannons just really bring this all to life along with the suits and pinestripe. These have to be the smartest ogres ever seen!
Really fantastic work!
Kind regards Zolas.

Although this is not really the right place to put this;
this is a good example of why using the "notify" button at the top of the page is so useful. Hitting the "Show unread posts since last visit" opens up all the new posts and, especially in the case of Gnoblogs, setting the Notify system into place for each Gnoblog that really catches your eye means that no new posts are ever missed again.
In my case I am happy to be alerted when new posts are made on Gnoblogs by; RJ_Payne, Conogre, Ibisson, Neezy13, Randroid, Jimmy, Zolas, Sazel, Warlord Steve, Joakim, MAVV, The executor, Tenderheart, Jock o Strap, Deeteekay (although sadly not anymore), Justjosh, jonny5, Rorhammer, Loran, LawGnome, Havoc, and Pirk (I'm not spelling the rest of it!).
It is a great way to ensure that you don't miss any updates on armies you want to see come to fruition.

That was actually the reason I picked up ogres in the first place. They just lend themselves to so many different possibilities.
Everyone else has very specific themes. Lizardmen are Aztecs, and its tough to do anything with them that isn't Aztec. Dark elves are elves. High elves are elves. Wood elves are elves with trees. Ogres can be anything!
Yay ogres!
Captain Urga11 Jul 2014
Amen to that! They are essentially a blank slate to make whatever you like: want a mountain dwelling tribe, great; a culturally themed one, great; something unthought of before, more power to you!
Have to love the versatility and freedom built into them.
LawGnome14 Jul 2014
In order to test my new camera (I got an ipad for my birthday), I'm going to be showing off my ironguts!
From left to right, we have:
Magneto (I couldn't NOT make him Magneto. The helmet was perfect. As an extra bonus, his sword has a helmet too!). For now he's multipurpose, filling in as characters when needed, but in the future I am going to make him a maneater.
Daryl the intern. He wants to be a songwriter, but his dad says he needs to have a real job. He's my bellower.
Bob. He works in the mail room (it gets warm down there)
Chuck. Wears a grey shirt.
Morag the Executioner. Former prosecutor. He lost his marbles after losing the biggest case of his career to a legal loophole and a box of kittens. He's now shut himself away from the rest of the world. Still shows up to work to collect a paycheck and to frighten the new guys. He's my unit champ.
Fred the HR director and Willcot the intern. Willcot dresses nicely for work, but feels that having to carry the HR director around in his lookout is demeaning. Sadly, he has no one to complain to, for fear of losing his job.
Hope you guys enjoy this look at some of my army. I'll post more stuff later (like ogres and mournfang). My next big project is my tyrant. I'll do WIP posts of him as soon as I have something to show.
LawGnome14 Jul 2014
Here is a bonus shot of Magneto. He was the first conversion I ever did, and it shows.
The cape was made using a heavily cut down banner. Were I to remake him, I'd craft the entire cape out of milliput in order to make it flow better.
Once I get the rest of my characters done, he's going to get upgraded to my maneater unit as the Comic Con Maneater. All of my maneaters are going to be lawyer ogres on their day off. Should be a fun unit, but characters come first.
Edit: just saw that this exact post went to the second page. Be sure to check the page before to see all of my ironguts.

LawGnome28 Jul 2014
As my latest update, here are my mournfang, with the sabretusks along with them.
For scale, my skink priest decided to photobomb this (before getting eaten by a giant kitten).
I didn't do much to the mournfang by way of converting them. These guys are acting as my court reporters, delivering verdicts and case reports to various members of the law firm, and implanting some of that information directly into the heads of their opponents. I was originally going to build a box full of documents on the back of each one, but the boxes never turned out quite right, so I scrapped that idea.
The sabretusks and the skink is there for scale (and because I'm proud of my skink priest. That little guy used to be a standard skirmisher, but now he's all fancy looking.)

Your army looks great and like Loran I love all the characters within it.
Those sabres are probably the most horrific things I have ever seen!
For all the wrong reasons! Please tell me they have never made it "out of the box" on club night? If they have then I pray to whatever deity that they absolutely trounced anything that even looked at them sideways...
I love your army, keep them pictures coming
G_H
LawGnome02 Aug 2014
@Loran: Thanks! I put a lot of effort into making each of my ogres, so naturally I have a lot of time to figure out who is what. I try to make each guy somewhat unique so that I can tell them apart.
@rag: Thanks! I'm a fan of your discworld ogres as well. You have a lot of skill that I hope to emulate.
@G_H: Thanks! I will definitely get more of my ogre pictures out there.
Regarding my sabres: I love my sabres. They are a big hit with everyone I've played against. They were originally created just so I didn't have to use notecard cutouts any more. When I first started my army, I built things slowly so that I could figure out how I wanted them to look. Since I still wanted to play during this time, I cut out squares of notecard to act as my proxies and drew pictures of what they represented on them.
My sabretusk proxies had pictures of hello kitty on them because I thought it would be funny. The name stuck (they are still called Hello Kitties when I play with them ), so I figured I would make an easier to use proxy until such a time as I bought an actual model for them. However, since the sabres generate a lot of laughs every time I pull them out, I've had no desire to replace them. Basically, a few of my lawyers bring their housepets along with them during outings
And having your bolt thrower eaten by a giant puppy dog is one of the most demeaning things you can imagine. Totally worth it
I'll post a picture of my ogre unit a little later today. I've got some work on my tyrant that I want to finish first.
LawGnome03 Aug 2014
And now, presenting my ogre unit!
From left to right, front to back:
Joe, my crusher. Although it is hard to see thanks to the beard, Joe is sporting a bow tie. He is middle management, making sure that everything runs smoothly. He's a stickler for TPS reports.
Carl, staff accountant: Carl has been with the firm a while, and feels very comfortable in his position. He's the office clown, and tends to sing along to headphones at work. He's my bellower.
Jared, staff accountant: Sits next to Carl. Spends most days at work annoyed at that fact.
Scott, research associate: Scott is a jovial fellow, but unambitious. He's happy sitting in the back, pouring through books, drawing a paycheck, and coming out periodically to blink uncomfortably in the sunshine and beat down a high elf or two.
In the back, Axel and Conrad, the twins. They are avid body builders, and have been reported to HR multiple times for showing up to work shirtless. Never the less, they do good work, so they just have a standing request to put on a shirt when meeting with clients.
I'm in the process of making my tyrant, a butcher, and a firebelly. I'll post pictures when I have more to show than legless torsos.
Gnoblar_Herder03 Aug 2014

I just finished basing my BSB, so I figured I would update the gnoblog with a far better picture of this lovely piece of art.
He's standing proud in the court room, ready to present his case (forcibly, if needed. That briefcase isn't just for holding documents)
Gnoblar_Herder08 Aug 2014

Thanks a lot, guys! I'm glad people are enjoying my army as much as I am.
I'm currently 2/3 done with my tyrant. I've got the body done and mostly painted (though the highlighting on the back needs a lot of work).
I just need to actually craft and paint the head. I always do the head separately to ensure that I can easily do neck details like the neckties, so my tyrant is currently standing on his base, completely headless.
I'll post pictures of him once he's done. After that, I expect there to be some radio silence as I work on my butcher and firebelly. Due to the nature of these two models, they need to be shown as a pair. Showing just one would ruin the other.

Alright, it has taken some work, but I am proud to present the leader of my army: the Judge!
Wielding the Gavel of Justice!, the Judge leads with an iron fist, striking down the unjust with the sickening sound of wood striking jaw.
The Judge fears nothing. Nothing except election time.

Great looking model there.
I especially like to see the wig, since I'm planning to have my officer wearing something similar. Nice to see it works when applied to a model.

Thanks! I am really happy with how this guy turned out (though I may go back and detail the mouth a little better. I don't like his teeth and I need to give his lips a little color).
As for the wig, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll post a few profile and back photos later once the lighting is a bit more agreeable so you can see a little more of how it was made.
If you are going to make something similar, I would suggest cutting off the ears. They get in the way otherwise, and are covered up by the curls anyway.

I'm still (slowly) working on my butcher and firebelly. I'm really excited about them, but they are definitely more difficult than anything else I've done. Hardest part about them: Having them looking over a shoulder without it looking strange. Shockingly difficult given how thick their shoulders are.
Gnoblar_Herder30 Aug 2014
If it's not too late...
I would suggest that when some who is quite "rotund" looks over their shoulder they tend to lower it as they turn. So if your guy needs to be looking over his shoulder then I would try and make sure that his shoulders aren't level with the ground and he is bent slightly downwards towards the shoulder he is looking over. (if any of this makes sense).
It tends to be the case, but not always, that the larger someone is the less lightly they are to actually look over their shoulder, they tend to turn more. but for someone as athletic (cough) as an Ogre then I am sure they are more likely to lower the looking-over shoulder and raise the other.
I don't know if this helps at all.

Actually, that helps a lot. Another plan is to move the neck slightly forward so that the chin is right next to the shoulder. I will also have to cut down and maybe remold the chin a bit so that it looks like it is pressed against the shoulder.
Would the lowering of the shoulder greatly effect the torso? Do you think that it would cause an ogre to just slump one shoulder, or would he have to bend over a bit to accomplish his task?
Gnoblar_Herder30 Aug 2014
I think looking at the Firebelly would help a bit here. Admittedly he is no looking over his shoulder, more upwards but the effect on the body would be similar.
One of the things I noticed when I first started painting mine was that his body (from behind on the right side) is very distorted. I was trying to paint symmetrical tattoo's on him and realized this was not that easy because he is leaning right down onto his right side so almost all of his ribs on the right side are obscured.
I think that this would be a similar position to what would happen if an ogre looked over his shoulder. This can be recreated by sitting down and then turning and looking over your shoulder until you can see directly behind you. This action is made easier if you lean one shoulder downwards, and that is kind of what I am talking about.

That is a good idea. I will check that out. I know for sure that I need to cut off and reshape the neck tendons, but I'll see if the firebelly is any help.
Beyond that, I think the next step is doing an image search on fat guys looking over their shoulder. I'm going to make sure safe search is on, because I'm afraid of what I might find otherwise

After attempting to do a little bit of work on this, I have to STRONGLY advise not attempting that particular image search.
*shudder*
I think I'm going to use the firebelly as my visual reference. The alternative is..... unpleasant.

My search was pretty disturbing. Most of the images had nothing to do with the search topic. A couple of them were a little more unsettling. Between the massive neck goiters and the poses of a few gentlemen (and one horrifying lady), I definitely will need to rethink my search strategy.
I am sure the next round will turn out better

@ Tozon: Thanks for your praise!
Alright, the casters are continuing, but I honestly haven't had much time to model them lately.
Looking back through my gnoblog, though, I realized that I never posted any pictures of my completed and based ironblaster!
Let me correct that terrible oversight now:
My ironblaster has been converted into one of the head partner's many Mercedes towncars. He's far to important and busy to drive himself, so he has a gnoblar (in full tuxedo and top hat) drive for him. Besides, he can't get in trouble for drinking and driving if he's a passenger!
The head partner's car is one of my earliest bits of conversion, and the entire reason I started this gnoblog. Looking back at him, I can see a lot of stuff that I could have done better, but overall, I am really happy with how it turned out.
Were I to do it again (or rather, do another one. It's on the list), I would do a lot more work with the chariot itself. I like the driver's pit and the tusks holding up the cannon, but I think that a little work on the chariot would make it feel more "car-like." Maybe some side paneling, and definitely make the back look more like a car. Maybe add tail lights and a license plate.
