March of the Wyrm Gorgers (Thread-mancy GO! Update with pics 3/30)

original thread ↗

Now THAT is a Slaughter Master!
What all did you have to saw away?

Make sure to do your absolute best at painting up that killing machine since he'll be the general of almost all of your games.

-GL

All I cut away was the left arm, and part of the left man boob, the man boob should have been left uncut. The arms are the extras I left over from my Tyrant. Really just an arm swap. ;)

I hear some horror stories about GW and their Fincast, (maybe that is why the apparent switch to just plastic. What you say? Switch to plastic I say. I could be wrong but I believe all the Dwarfs released last month are plastic ) One of the Nid players in my local meta has four or five Lictors that GW sent as replacements, well for or five kits, one complete Lictor.

I am not sure why plastic seems to be easier to mold, but it does. I have some M2E, second edition Malafaux, that are plastic, and I crapped my pants when I saw how small and how detailed they are. Blew my belief that another material was needed for detail out of the water.

I like to work plastic, since plastic cement gives you extra time till it sets, then "welds" instead of "gluing". I like metal the least of all since I have minimal practice with it. Mostly if you have the right tools, glue and practice, one can get through anything.

Have an Ogre-iffic day

I agree with most of this. I find metal a nightmare to work with because it (for me) is so hard to stick together. I have had things pinned, super-glued and greenstuffed and they have still fallen off.

Plastic is a joy to work with because it is just so "convertible".

I would also agree with the finecast thing if it wasn't for one tiny thing; everyone except GW seem to be able to pull it off with no problems (even Forge World). god knows what rubbish substance GW are using for their resin but it does say something when virtually every Polish resin company (Kromlech, Scibor, Puppets war, etc etc) have absolutely no problem with producing "bubble free" 100% perfect resin models, with as much detail for the same price or less.

Sort it out GW...

And I would heartily take a look at the above companies and search for more....they ship world-wide, make beautiful models and in my case have customer service second to none. I have bought from the above and more besides and they have always seen me proud. I am sure there is a lesson there somewhere...

Well here is a pic of the SM.

This is the second attempt at paint, I already stripped one off.

I am putting him into the Simple Green filled ultrasonic, as I type this, He will be ready for primer tomorrow afternoon :o.

*Throws a small child into the Maw*

Maybe a sacrifice to the Maw will help.

I want a nice paintjob, as yes He is my centerpiece, from now, and on forever. I find my modeling is at a slight disadvantage under my painting. This time in the bath is because I finally decided that, no that isn't a bone below the lower right shrunken head, it is a vent, to be cut off and filed away. You can see evidence of such in pic. It looks better. There may be more to do yet. Only time will tell.

My bad on infrequent updates.
-Matt
Well after looking a GWs site, it is a bone.

Whatever, I still think it looks better without it.

Just another model I get to paint , this one will be at least 3 times.

TL:DR

No update. I offer a lie.

As penance I offer my dignity.

I am done blaming, "disbandment of league".  I cared not for "community" before dice rolled.

Here are pics of my most recent outing.

As advice to any who might need it....Don't Drink and Paint.

For the rest......

Legit update in a couple days
Today I have real progress to share. 8)

Today I have a completed unit, based, tray, all of it. 8)

I like how it turned out. Bases are from http://dragonforge.com/. I believe he ships world wide.

As far as my Slaughtermaster goes.....he is about to get stripped again, I think for the fourth or fifth time. I am really having issues with this model. I will post a before strip pic of him before I toss him into the vat.

Thanks for looking.
