Fuzzy's Sons of the Mountain tribe

It has finally come to the point were all of my initial buys have been ordered. It briefly saddens me that I no longer have my old Ogre army, but I'm delighted that I can build it once again with all the new models. My initial purchases are these:

1 Box of Bulls
2 boxes of Ironguts
2 Stonehorns
1 Butcher / Slaughtermaster
1 Bragg the Gutsman (Will be converted to my BSB)
1 Ironblaster
2 Sabertusks
2 Boxes of Mournfang

This will give me everything I need accept for a figure to stand in as my Hunter in case his Stonehorn dies out from under him.

My goal is to build a Mountain Eater tribe that is themed off of the Monsters and what not from up on the Mountains. Therefore I hope to always include plenty of Mournfangs, Stonehorns, and maybe a Thundertusk or two. Eventually I might even add some Yeti's as they play a part in the back ground as well. I just need to wrap my head around how to use them effectively.

Once the stuff arrives I'll start getting pictures put up.

Loving the list, great selection of units. Plenty to keep you occupied thats for sure.
I would recommend making one of those stone horn into a thunder tusk. Gives you some maneuvarability in lists I would imagine. But i know very little in terms of actually playing warhammer so don't take my word for it :p I would just like to try painting both.

So, here is where we are. GW decided I didn't need to have any Ironguts, or my Slaughtermaster, or my Sabertusks.... To say my order was shorted is indeed true. So after gathering up everything I could this is what I have now. I also have another Stonehorn to put together...



As you can see I went with Space Wolf wolves for my Sabertusks, saves me money in the long run anyhow.



I used Bragg for my Slaughtermaster. I love the miniature and it took very little work to make him into a great weapon wielding Slaughtermaster.



I used the Great Weapons from my Mournfangs to make a unit of Ironguts, I just couldn't build a 2k list with out them to help fill the core points needed.



Finally I needed a BSB, but had run out of normal ogre bodies, again needing all I had to fill out points for 2k. So I came up with a sitting BSB. He's lounging on a barrel. I also attatched another barrel to him and a wineskin. I figure he'll be the booze bearing ogre. After all I think Ogre's would be pretty intent on the guy with all the booze as well as the guy with the big banner.... I think I will also litter his base with even more barrels and chests as well.

I also gave him a really big banner..

I have a game or two lined up for the weekend, and I hope to get my Hunter Stonehorn done over the weekend as well. I figure I'll order the Battalion box to finish it all off, maybe a third box of Mournfangs as well. The real trick will be making a Firebelly, Maneaters, and or Tyrant from the regular Ogres so I don't need to get the finecast ones.

looks awesome man, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with the sitting ogre, just not the bsb. Was gonna use the big crossbow from the stone horn sprue.

Cant wait to see the stone horn, always a great centrepiece

Finished my 2400 point list!



The entire list. I went with just 2 Stonehorns as I simply couldn't run with at least one cannon.



Gnoblar trappers. Great for filling in point. The guy with the ribs on a pole on his back is a standard. Hopefully they'll help me control things, or be a fantastic distraction.



My Hunter on his Stonehorn. I did some modifications so that it would not look exactly like the other Stonehorn, but still look like a Stonehorn. I still need to build a dismounted figure for him just in the case the rare chance comes along where his mount dies before him. I need a walking body, the furs and stuff I have from the previous kit.

Now I just need to figure out what to paint first....

They will have standard flesh worth white tribal markings. I'm not really sure on the furs, but the stone on the animals will be a cold grey.

This isn't even all of it. I still need my tyrant, because everyone needs a tyrant even if you don't play with him, and a battalion box. It's enough to play with though...

I got the first of the Guts done. I usually use a single rank and file models to get the scheme and basing down. I wanted to go with a traditional flesh tone, accept a bit paler to help represent all the time on the snowy mountains. I also wanted a very close tundra look to the base. Lastly, and the hardest for me, was trying to figure out how to do the white tattoos and tribal markings. Hopefully it came out okay on the first model, and will get better with repetition.

Lookin good! I like the warpaint and if you were going for the pale look then you have definitely hit your mark. The flesh most def reminds me of the colder climate. Makes me chilly just looking at them!

Get a lamp and you will be able to do some shots closer up to show off the detail. From these photos its hard to pic out the finer details.

All in all, Great work. Looking forward to seeing more

My current General and Slaughtermaster!!



I really wasn't a fan of the finecase model, it had tons of flash and bubbles, and warpage. I stuck with it though and did what I could to cover up the imperfections and modify it enough to look like a good Slaughtermaster.



I also tried out the new Blood for the Blood God technical paint for GW, and I have to say this stuff is pretty amazing. Dries nice and glossy, and really looks gory. Love the stuff!



Anyhow, chugging along nicely. Going to get a few more Ironguts done before working into the BSB.

Slaughtermaster looks great mate, the gutplate is such a simple yet effective conversion and the blood is a really stark contrast against the pale skin. I am impressed!

Balls. So I learned something today....

Try to keep your army book with you for reference material. Apparently the tribe I was painting my Ogre towards is the Sons of the Mountain tribe. Specifically because I have white tattoos all over them...

This means I painted the tribe glyph wrong on several of them, and need to redo that. I also named the gnoblog wrong, but that is fixed. Now I need to fix the glyphs, then work on the banners which thankfully I hadn't painted more than the base color on.

First finished unit with characters coming soon!
