Regiments of Renown: Forfeiting Gnoblar shooting

original thread ↗

In RoR, how do you feel about allowing Gnoblars to forfeit Throwing Weapons in order to include more than one?

I find it hard to use up all my points because Ogres are big point models

I feel that Gnoblar's throwing is relatively insignificant, and wouldn't mind

I feel this would give Ogres an unfiar advantage (i.e. they would be a hoard as great as Skaven!)

I don't know it's very hard to say

Gnoblars won't change the game anyways

The great part about GW is that they are people (cool) that listen to their customers. I'm a regular Skaven player, but am doing an RoR army. When I play Skaven v Ogres, Skaven outnumber the big guys like.. 6:1, lol.

I felt it was hard to make an Ogre list because 1 Gnoblar is the limit, because of shooting. So, I know GW does make certain exceptions for obvious advantages or disadvantages; this case we cannot take more than one special, and with the low-point core having "Throwing Weapons", maybe we can simplify it & say "No shooting!"

Interesting, never played Regiments of Renown, but reading the rules I can't imagine being able to field more gnoblars would really help Ogres that much. I don't think a swarm of gnoblars intimidates... anyone ever. Though 19 gnoblars and a maneater would be funny as hell.

I cringe at the 'can't have more than 3 wounds ever' since I more or less read that as 'screw you ogres'.

gnoblar shooting is SOOO bad that sometimes when the game is running a little long, I will simply forgo their shooting because many times they have such a low chance of having a wound stick anyways.

I only like gnoblars as trapping speedbumps or large hoarded tarpits. I don't think I would ever consider using them in these scenarios.
I do think it would change the game a bit.
Without the gnoblar shooting you could bring a leadbelcher with the handcrafted ammo, d6 armor piercing strength4 that always hit on fours would kill any leader or DoW real quick ;p
Also, gnoblars could occupy a lot of table for victory points and could deny rout tests for a while.
