An ogre expedition into Lustria - a campaign run by my hobby group.

original thread ↗

It is "wealed ogre" for a reason. I am a quadriplegic in a wheelchair with enough hand function to paint to a reasonable tabletop standard. The last six months has seen me wanting to get into my plethora of ogres more and more. I now have the opportunity to finish building and painting a theme through my ogre army.

I looked online, and all the entries within the Stronghold and nothing really has solved or answered my questions. The Lustrian campaign will run from March to June next year. I'm looking at a 2000 point list for starters and then expansion out of 2500 points. I was thinking about an ogre expedition force that sailed the sea in search of "new cuisine." Aboard the ship were a variety of ogres, one of course being a hunter. Here's some thoughts for when they land:

Cold ones counts as sabretusks
? counts as mournfang
gun off the boat mounted an bastiladon counts as iron blaster
arachnarock as a jungle spider counts as stonehorn for hunter

Thoughts, ideas, adjustments?

Love the idea! I think i have seen a lustrian army here on the forum, check the gnoblogs! And good luck :D
For Mournfang "counts-as"... I think the only models in the Lizardmen range that share the same base are the stegadons... But, that'd get really expensive after the first one/two. Maybe you can use some greenstuff to make the regular Mournfang models look more... lizard-like?? Not too sure.

It's a great theme to have, and not very common (which is an added bonus!).

Welcome to the Stronghold! Hope we all can give you some more advice/inspiration!
33 Gnobs! Over 3 Packs of Trappers! Woot!
Gibblet, Nibblet, Crunchybit (from Slaughtermaster achievement)

New book WLD: 20/10/2 - Yay tourney wins and random game win!

If you're struggling for the counts as stuff, you could just decorate the existing models - perhaps stick the odd jungle tree on the base of the bigger things, use some looted Lizardmen regalia... and if you're feeling up to the challenge you could paint Sabretusks like Bengal tigers.

Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
the old model off a carnosaur could be ideal for a mournfang substitute, although a bit expensive....
After looking at some ebay part only shops, I can afford the following:

- Arachnarok on base (no goblin stuff)
- 8 cold ones
- I have 2 (no lizzy stuff) and get another 2 steggies

Im thinking of running:

- Sabres (cold ones)
- hunter on mourn (hunter on arachnarok)
- leadbelchers
- mournfang (steggies)
- ironguts
-bsb
- butcher/slaughtermaster/firebelly (one of)

Gunna leave the iron laster out. bastiladon are $.

Thoughts?
How about Gnoblars herding razordons for your leadbeltchers?

Skink shields for gut plates on your ironguts.
