Hello. After coordinating with my LGS we have started a fantasy escalation league. after hitting a creative block with my first consiteration of lizardmen, i instea chose to make an ogre army! my starting 500 point list is so:

firebelly
-extra hand weapon
-general

5 Bulls
-full command
-ironfist

3 Leadbelchers

Sabertusk

Sabertusk

Which comes to 483 points.

i plan on painting them in a pale skin theme (rakarth flesh/blue wash/pallid wytch flesh) and snow basing them. Fluff-wise i will be basing them around The Challenge stone.

I am really excited to start this army. i already have some fluffy things i would like to do with it (Twin Giants) and thats what i enjoy the most. a strong army with a good theme and story.

worked on my initial test models today

colors used:

skin- rakarth flesh/asurman blue wash
leather- scorched brown/ argax earthshade wash
metal- VMA Gun/nuln oil wash
red- mephistion red/nuln oil wash
pants- VMA olive drab/argax earthshade wash

on a painting hold going further. need pallid wytch flesh and astrogranite, but the closest store with it is an hour away.

Looks very good this far!

Fluffy things are the most fun and twin giant sounds awesome :D Maybe not the strongest option, but double the laughs ;)

And welcome to the forums :)
I just want to say that English ain't my mother tongue, so it is far from perfect and I can just hope that you guys can understand me. And feel free to point out my spelling errors or major grammatical mistakes :]
while i wait for paint to arrive i am working on magnetic movement trays. the problem i am having is what size to make them. from what i have seen for the ogre bases a couple 3X3's will be fine.maybe in the future a 6X3. for mornfang a 1X2 and 1X4. how about leadbelchers?  a 2X2 or a 1X4? would a couple 2X4's see future use?
You will probably end up doing all the possible possibilities ;)

But to give you an idea. You could think about doing like 3 wide and just 2 deep trays. Few of these, because this gives you couple of options. :)
Put two of these behind each other and you get 3wide and 4deep, still easy to move and if back ranks die you can remove the waste of space tray.
Or use 4 of these to get 6 wide and 4 deep. Same reasons.
Of course sometimes you may want to run your ogres 4 wide, so this is a problem. Because you might want to make couple of 4wide x 2deep too :/

Mournfangs, well I haven't even bothered :D Doesn't take that long to move three separate models in my opinion. :)

Belchers, I personally like 2X2 :)

And a quick picture to give you the idea with removable ranks.

But yeah, if you are like me you will end up with gazillion different formation option movement trays :D

got my hands on the pallid wytch flesh i needed and the rust series of technical paints. (they are very nice) Finished my test model. other than the poor silver highlights i did on the rusty sword, i am happy with it. now to finish the other 4 ogres in the unit and work on green stiffing the horrible gaps on the finecast firebelly i got that the head/arm/fireball piece didn't line up quite right. also need to think about how i want to paint the sabertusks. since i am generally going with a white/blue palette for the ogre flesh i will likely go in that direction for the cats.

also on the side i am working on some forest terrain with removable trees for the FLGS.
oh yeah. also played three 500 point games.  barely beat a DE army, them played a vampire army twice. first game i deployed very poorly and got wiped out to a panic failure cascade. that was a good lesson. then replayed and crushed him. played with:

firebelly
5 ogres IF musician, standard
3 leadbelchers
2 sabertusks.

i need to start planing for our escalation to 750. still have the rest of the batallion box and 2 mournfangs.
#1 Love the blue warpaint on that ogre, I really want to try doing that woad warrior look on my guys sometime. I think I may do it on a bull unit as to not break theme for the rest of the army

#2 Really like the purple on those guys, very vibrant colours, extremely eye popping.

#3 Welcome to the Gnoblog community! you'll find everyone on the stronghold super nice and very helpful, but I like to think the Gnoblog community have some special ties! - Welcome to the thunder dome! haha

Keep up the progress, can't wait to see more
