Storm Wing formation

The Black Library has just released a data slate for the Storm Wing formation, all well and good I understand formations are outside FoC, Allies and Inquisition

Question is can you choose any Chapter to run this from and fill the Troop Capacity of the Stormraven with, so I'm running Space Wolves with Blood Angel allies and then a Storm Wing formation with White Scar troops or Iron Hand Centurions?

Not very clear really, hope it does mean that I can run any Chapter I want :)

Formations exist outside the detachment system, so they're not relevant in the slightest to either your main force, or your allies. They're affected by the allies table in terms of what is/is not scoring, but that's about it. They ONLY contain the models specified by the Formation's datasheet (e.g. the tau Fireblade Support Cadre is solely composed of 2 squads of 3 broadsides and a riptide), but I suppose the models in the formation could be from whatever chapter you want. Hopefully that answers your question.

Well I decided to get these anyway as the load out can really help with a lot of situations that my Space Wolves can't normally touch, and I'm working really slowly on getting them painted ;) until the release of the next Wolves codex to see what colour I can paint them
