Daffy's Greenskin Painting Project (Current: Wyvern, Savage Orcs, Giant)

original thread ↗

Hello every one I'm having another try at a Gnoblog! This time its an army not so much to play with but more as a hobby project with which I can improve my skills and painting and modelling/converting later down the line!

I'm going to try and do WIP shots along the way but I'm quite bad at remember to take photos of my stuff until I've actually finished it.

As a test to myself I have decided that before any more of the army gets bought I shall build and paint all of what I have.

What I have so far:
Purchased:
Box of 20 Night Goblins
Goblin Shaman Plastic
Box of 10 Savage Orcs
Night Goblin Fanatics
Finecast Wyvern
Giant (Re-basing my Ogre Kingdoms Giant)
20 Skull Pass Night Goblin Archers
10 Goblin Spider Riders
Skull Pass Night Goblin Shaman (I think I'll need to strip the paint from this as it is v. badly painted)

Assembled & Painted:
20 Night Goblins
Goblin Shaman
1 Night Goblin Fanatic
5 Savage Orcs
Wyvern
Giant
Ok I apologise for the poor quality photos, my camera is misbehaving!

So these are my Goblins from the Yellow Nose tribe!

These were the first two I painted with my test colour scheme:

And others soon followed!

What do you think so far? I have 3 more Gobbos on the go at the moment, including the unit champion for my hand weapon and shield night goblins!
Love them. Get busy on some Orkies. :) Keep it up.
Update time!

I'm not the fastest painter in the world - but I've been aiming to keep the momentum behind completions for this project.

Here are 2 more regular goblins that I finished today:

Aaand here is the unit's champion!

BONUS: Since this is an Ogres forum and whatnot, here are some photos of my Ogre tribe's recently finished Tyrant, known as Gorn the Great, or simply G^2 to his fans! ;)

And here's a sneak preview of things to come when I finish this unit of 20 Goblins! :D

I'll try to update as frequently as possible!
Okay guys I've been a little busy lately, but I've managed to finish my unit of Night Goblins! Huzzah!

Here are some truly AWFUL photos (my camera simply can't take good photos in this light!)

Next up:

I'll try to continue updating with decent frequency!
Nice work! Keep it up!
Nice kitbashing on g2, he looks great

If anyone is interested I could post a couple of photos of my Mortal Kombat - styled maneaters?

Because I likely won't be making any Greenskin painting progress until Tuesday
Would love to see those :)
Ok!

Now disclaimer: I didn't do the greenstuff work on these guys, a friend of mine did as a practice for his sculpting - I'm currently working on getting better but I don't think I'm as good as this yet.

ANYWAY:

Here are the finished one that I'm happy with (I should also say that the appearance of the character is based from how they look in the latest Mortal Kombat game - MK9)

First up is Johnny Cage:

Next is Sub-Zero:

Scorpion:

Baraka (I think that's how you spell it!) :

I have 4 more that either aren't finished or I'm not happy with, but these are the ones I am happy with. Enjoy!
Awesome, cage is my favourite, especially his gutplate.

Thanks! I tried to take a good photo but all these are hopelessly washed out by the awful light in here...
In addition, if you're wondering the others I have that are either finished and I'm not happy with them or are WIP are:
Quan-Chi
Reptile
Raiden
Jax
Love them, especially the Sub-Zero :)
Update time! With my last deadlines for this year past I have finally been able to get back to this hobby I love so much!

I managed to complete my Goblin Shaman and a single fanatic for the unit!
I also wrote a very basic 200pt mercenary warband of Night Goblins for Triumph and Treachery list!

Goblin Shaman lvl 2
20x Night Goblins
Full command
1 Fanatic

Here are photos of the Shaman!

And Photos of the first fanatic:

And here are some assembled savages to give you an idea of where this blog is headed next! ;)

PS: What does everyone think about the style of the war paint so far? I have been wondering how best to transfer it to the savages - does anyone have any ideas?
Hi Folks! I've had a bit more spare time than last week so I've gotten a test model for my savage orcs all painted up! I'm not 100% sure about the amount of warpaint on him but I'm fairly happy for now - I want an easy visual way to distinguish the characters in this army and I think I shall do that with warpaint! (for example my goblin shaman has far more warpaint than my savage orc, but a Savage Warboss [a little way down the line yet!] would have far more warpaint)

Anyway make up your own minds and let me know please!

Updates coming soon!
I like it!
Alright! I'm back at uni and I'm finally able to upload some of the painting work I did over the month I was at home (Not as much done as I would have liked, but oh well). I did get some exciting new toys at Christmas, including a very fun model that I'm going to use as a mount for my Savage Orc Warboss!

Here are photos of the Wyvern (Who has had his face painted in the same warpaint style as the rest of the army ;) )

Sorry about the crap photos there, for some reason my camera is incapable of producing nice looking photographs of Warhammer miniatures... Or maybe that's just me...

Oh well, that's not the only progress I've made over Christmas, I have now painted the 5 Savages I built before!

I should get around to building the next 5 soon, right after I finish my current (albeit small) project to give my giant a new base.

I'm re-basing him because I originally painted his base to fit in my Ogre army, but when I realised that I never really used him in it I decided I was going to build him a new base to fit in my Orc and Goblin army instead! His colour scheme pretty much fits the bill, too. (Purple and yellow cloth on him :) )

I also received some second hand Goblin spider riders and Night Goblin archers that I will be working on. Some of them are broken but I'll see what I can do with them!

Anyway that's all for now! As soon as I'm settled in again I should get back to painting here and there and have some more updates for all of you.
Another update! I finished the new base for my Giant, so I glued him down to it. I actually painted this guy quite a while ago (over a year I think!) but I think he's painted well enough to fit the army :)

I'm having another Giant in this army further down the line, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make him different to this one? I'm thinking of greenstuffing him a different pose :)
