Ghostwalkers struggles with ADOSS

I am going to use this blog to keep me motivated (along with my other sources), to keep you guts up to date with my progress on assembling an army and my participation elsewhere in a 'tale of fantasy gamers' projects.

Progress may be a tad slow until January when the 'tale' project goes into full swing. But for now i am trying to get a better grip on painting skin..my big weakness. I also have to finalise a coherent colour scheme and basing method for my ogres. So a lot of work to do before January.
There is also the topic of naming my tribe, leader etc etc.

I have pics of other projects i can share until i finish my test model (currently wip, but hopefully finished off this evening/tomorrow). That is ofcourse if you want to see them.

Until then, grab a gobbo or 2, feast your bellies and use those pesky tomb kings for toothpicks.

So it's taken a couple of days and all in about 6 hours to complete this model. A fair bit of trial and error along the way.
But in doing so i have faced my biggest painting weakness. Flesh. Something i have always struggled with.

I am overall very happy with the model, but as always open to feedback and tips.

With this model complete though, i think its safe to say i will be going Ogre Kingdoms for my 'Tale of fantasy gamers' project.

I dont know what you're talking about that skin looks great.  I'd maybe just greenstuff the arm/body gap, but apart from that he looks awesome.

So less of a painting update and more or heres where the project is heading update.

As i mentioned before, its all being done as part of a 'tale of fantasy gamers' project on a £30 per month budget with any unspent money rolled over to the next month. I have now planned out my purchase list for the project.

I am still torn between the overall army theme though. I don't know whether to go with empire or brettonia as the victims of the ogres dress sense. It's a big decision as the Maneaters will be the most heavily influenced and converted unit. As much as i love some of the gw Maneaters, i don't like the hefty price tag attached to a small unit.
Instead i plan to convert them from the spare models left over from the ogre and irongut sets. I have a box load of odds and ends from empire and brettonian sets so the conversion bits shouldn't be hard to come by.

March SB £46.50 - 1 box of Ironguts @ £23.00 + 1 box of Mournfang @ £22.50 = £45.50 carry over £1 (£46.50 - £23 - £22.50 = £1)
April SB £31.00 - 1 box of Iron guts @ £23.00 carry over £8 (£31 - £23 = £8)
May SB £38.00 - 1 box of Ogres @ £23.00 Carry over £15 ( £38 - £23 = £15)
June SB £45.00 - 1 box of Ironguts @ £23 + 1 Box of Sabres @ £10 Carry over £12 ( £45 - £23 - £10 = £12)

Well that's the initial plan anyway. I may look over the purchase list and change the order at some point in the next couple of days.

Thoughts

Could I suggest cutting away one or two boxes of Ironguts and buying more ogres, using them for irongut conversions.  It will ultimately leave you with a higher mini count.
