Help painting corpses/ pallid flesh with stitching.

original thread ↗

Hello fellow Tyrants!

I recently bought (and pledged to paint) a unit of Gravehaunt Hills Flesh Reapers. I have tried a few different techniques but am finding it very hard to convey the look of dead flesh whilst still retaining an Ogre-ish feel to the models.

I tried working my way up through:
Scorched Brown
Scorched Brown + Castellan/ Catachan Green
Castellan/ Catachan Green
Castellan/ Catachan Green + Bleached Bone/ Menoth White Base

And for the stitching I was looking at using Daemonette Hide + a light Grey for highlights, then covering with Druchii Violet and then highlighting a little of the skin again.

However I struggle because the earthy green skin contrasts too much with the purple stitching. The greenish skin also ended up too light, and after washing it with Athonian Camoshade I just wanted to cry and curl up in the corner. I'll have to paint strip the one model I have done and wanted to know where to take the rest of the unit... the rest of my Ogres are this kind of colour:

and I'm struggling to think of a way to make them fit in. Fluffwise I was going to use them as Vampire Counts style Maneaters (Undead experiments but they're still driven by hunger and they've returned to their tribe etc.)

Any help/ advice?

I would seriously appreciate it. I was hoping to get them finished for this weekend, and a local gaming group, but I'm struggling and feeling a bit out of my depth with the level of skill/ subtlety needed :(

Their tears will be a perfect addition to the Butcher's cauldron.
