Restart - Building an 2500p army in 1 month

Hi friendly gamers and hobbyists!

I had an army blog long time ago, made some pretty cool conversions and had a great time. But my army hobby took a break and i didn't do much for a long time.

But now I'm back, and with a mission. September 28, I'll compete in a 2500p tournament. And when i signed up, I had almost no models painted. Well, I had some, but i didn't like their scheme. So I decided to repaint and rebuild my entire army before the tournament.

About two weeks left, and I want to show you what I've done and what I have left. Will post my Tournament List if somebody is interested.

The first unit I re-painted was 8 ogres. Pretty pleased with the new colors. 




Second i did 4 Ironguts. The armor and "weathering" look like crap, but i didn't like the effect.. (I see now that i have no pictures of these.. Oh well, not much to see anyways)

Then i did 6 Maneaters with various weapons from stonhorn-, ironblaster- and irongut-kit. Skipped some details that I'll fix later, if I have have the time and feel for it.

Some of you might remember this guy, my standing Greasus.



Looks pretty bad ass, but I needed a Slaughtermaster, and i hate to paint the standard Greasus model (to much bling bling). I painted him twice (removed the old color with  Ethyl alcohol) but never liked the feel of it. So i decided to strip away all the bling, and transform him into a Slaghtermaster with mass.

I don't like the standing pose anymore, so I grinded away the legs, and made a new "foot on the rock" pose.
 


It was really funny and scary to grind away all that metal bling. Had eye and mouth protection on my face ^^





This is with black primer and white "dusting".

I really like the way he turned out. Looking forward to paint him. Might add some crocks and meat to his belt. I kept the crown on his head, because i felt a crowned slaghtermaster would be pretty rare and bad ass, I envision that he took the treasure before he ate somebody royal.

Now I'm in the middle of an 12 Ogre Painting factory frenzy. I'm not spending the same amount of time with them, but they'll look OK and i really just wanna get the army done. I'll actually never had a whole army painted before





After these, I've left to paint: 1 Ironblaster, 1 Slaughtermaster, 1 BSB, 1 Butcher, 2 Maneaters (yes, I'll deploy 8 maneaters ) and 5 wolfs (sabertusks). I think I'll manage =)

You don't need me to say that you sir are are an awesome painter/converter. Also you seem to know how to handle a camera and some software to present the pictures so nicely! These are very pleasant to look at and I'm sure to check out this blog often

And that standing stripped down standing GreasusSlaughtermaster is just so cool! Very simple, but very hot (If fat ogre can be hot..)

Amazing work, and an exciting project to complete in a month That Greasus conversion is simply superb! If you don't mind me asking, how did you achieve the original standing pose?

My only suggestion is that you take a little time to remove all the mould lines from your models, as your photos are so clear, they can be seen in one or two places

That Greasus conversion is simply superb! If you don't mind me asking, how did you achieve the original standing pose?

It's really simple, all you have to do is fill his back with something cheap and sculpt a basic cloak. Then you have to re position his feet. Pretty easy. I didn't like the look of the right arm, so i changed the angle a little. I have to say he look kind of awkward standing up like the way he did. Looked like he was about to fall over any minute.



The base is a mold from treasures, and I cut small coins from green stuff and made a pile out of them.

My only suggestion is that you take a little time to remove all the mould lines from your models, as your photos are so clear, they can be seen in one or two places

Yeah I know  Should be more thorough.

And yes! Standing Greasus! Something I tried and failed at, miserably. You've inspired me to try and dig him up!

Cheers for the picture and explanation buddy! I am gonna give it a go with my model; if I can find it! I have always hated the laying down pose for him, seeing as he is supposed to be the all-powerful Overtyrant, so I think this is a brilliant fix for it

Small update. Pants time, first layer done.

Man, I love your Maneaters! They are done so well. They are simple in away that really makes them stand out. Unlike most ME's which look so alien compared to the rest of the ogres, yours seamlessly blend with the rest of the army. Very inspiring. It reminds me that Maneaters don't have to look so flamboyant, ;D Well done sir.

Last day!

This is what I manage to complete. All models have paint on them, but some do not look super. And some of the bases are only half done. But i can compete in the tournament ;D

First match is in 7 hours. Time to sleep!

Well, honestly, you should be proud of the work you've done. They look really darn good lol...

It's amazing, seeing Greasus standing, to see how abso-freakin-lutely HUGE the guy is. I mean, he's just about twice the size of an average bull! Your models do the Ogres much credit!

Now, don't forget your battle reports with some pictures showing these guys in the field! That'd be the icing on the cake for this gnoblog! But, never-the-less, good job!

...now to get my guys rolling lol... I've got less than 1/4 of mine painted, and I've been at this hobby 4 years now lol
