New Army Questions

original thread ↗

Hey Folks ,

So I am a old timey warhammer player restarting again,  Ogre Kingdoms are my choice and I would like some advice on my next purchases, I try and plan out my months purchases in advance so I manage my funds and painting.

So being new to this army I would like to ask your thoughts.

Tomorrow -
Army Book and battalion box ?

I obviously needs the rule book right ? so the battalion box to me seems like such a good deal and from what I read it is a solid buy.  I am considering converting all the bulls into Ironguts and building my army core around two units of 'guts roughly 8-10 in size.

In two weeks I will be adding two boxes of Mournfang Cav ?

Any suggestions here ?
Welcome,

Battalion never gets old and mournfang are always solid. Thats a great start, Id even get a second battalion down the road for bulls and leadbelchers to taste some variety.
A lot of Ogre units are decent at worst, so it's hard to go wrong with your choices. Battalions all contain excellent options - get some small bases too (20mm) and you can take the baggage Gnoblars from the sprues to make some Gnoblar units too.

Two Battalions will pretty much set you up. Two Mournfang Boxes will also set you for Mournfangs, since most people tend to use one unit of 3-4, anything after that is the realms of personal preference.

As for characters, you can convert them up easily - but I am a sad act who does like the actual models at times. Plus, Maneaters are too cool to not use as Tyrants/BSB's/etc. Up to you though, so don't worry about them.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
Thanks for the help yall
Ironblasters and sabertusks are very good at the moment, so getting a few of those would be nice.  And yeah, converting bulls into maneaters, butchers and BSB is a fantastic idea.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
I second the saber tusks. Redirecting is an invaluable tactic that sabers are very good at.
Thanks! I was in the air on Sabetusk, I like them alot, but I also like Maneaters and the Yehtees ( I am building my army around the theme of living in frozen mountaintops.
