Black Legion...

For those who like me is a sucker for the bitterness of Ezekyle there is a new supplement Codex coming out for the Chaos Space Marines with rules for running your Black Legion army as... well... Black Legion. First up is the iPad version this weekend (hell yeah!) followed by an ebook for androids in early september and a bound book later in a few months.

Excellent, really looking forwards to it. That said, it needs to be pretty awesome to keep me from shelving or selling my Word Bearers in light of the Space Marine book. Though I already know your views on that, Mr Belakor....

Do not get if you plan to get an army of expensive Marine hating Chaos Spikers.

Most of the rules seem to have been leaked already, so what's the fluff like? Do the CoA feature much at all? Cheers.

My 40K is limited compared to WFB, so CoA...?

The fluff is vast, and largest of the "three" sections of the book, and really brings a meaning to the otherwise stale "hate the Emperor for beating up my dad" feel that fills the regular CSM codex. It is sorta a fresh breeze and brings army building ideas to what many just see as a dark version of Ultramarines. It's not, and really feel like the huge threat the Legion really is. I have yet to read it in depth so I will spend most of the weekend reading through it carefully. Will. Get. Back!

One thing is for sure - I will use this book irrelevant if it works better against Space Marines than other armies.

The first partbis about the Heresy, the second part about what happened to the Sons and Abaddon after the defeat in the Eye, and the third depicts all the 12 Crusades up the present and 13th Crusade. Apparently I have been doing my job as a Herald of Abaddon:

The CoA are the Chosen of Abaddon, one dude for each god. They had a really cool pic and bit of fluff back in 3.5, but that's all we really know about them.

And yeah, if you're naming yourself after an existing character don't be too surprised when you turn up at any given point. 

The Chosen are still in, a sort of Inner Circle (half a page about them plus several stories about them in the history section), and there are lots of Warbands within the Black Legion like:



The fluff was nice though a bit Abaddon focused (expected), but I already have tons of ideas I want to do with my Black Legion modelling wise.

Next up are another go at the rules as well as the rest of the book.

Ygethmor and Zaraphiston have both been members of the Chosen at some point. Cheers, keep it up!

A friend of mine had my two old HQ that I got rid off the last time I wanted to play in the 40K universe with Chaos. He kindly traded them back for some minor bits. Made my day.





Edit: going to use the skull on my Terminator Lord instead to keep him alive so I changed his weapon to a fist.
