Cap'n Morgan - Ogre of the High Seas

original thread ↗

It was in the burning rubble left in the wake of a passing Ogre tribe that they found the child - fat, pink and solid. They guessed his age at around seven or eight, although it was hard to tell. He had a scar over his right eye, which was closed. He was sat alone in the smoking ruins of an inn, giggling softly to himself and chewing on a broken table leg. Morgan, they called him, and took him for their own.
The family, Louise and Henry, had narrowly escaped the Ogre raid, living on the outskirts of their small town in the West of Bretonnia. It was a plain yet comfortable house, well-built of firm wood and stone. They owned a donkey, who was tied up in the yard outside, and a few chickens which ran around freely. They carried Morgan, who was by now fast asleep, between the two of them, through the doorway and into a small bedroom. They left him sleeping noisily on the straw.
Suspicions were first raised at Morgan's true identity the next morning - when the family awoke to the house full of feathers, and Morgan sitting happily on the bed covered in blood. It ran thick and red from his grinning mouth, and pooled on the floor under the bed. Not knowing what to do, Henry and Louise cleaned the room and the child, and said nothing more of it. Morgan chuckled, and the only word they could get out of him was "Fistmaw".
Within a few days, it was clear that Morgan was different from other children. He was thick around the chest and boasted a huge belly, and ate astounding amounts of food. He caused a large disturbance in the town center when he "wrestled" a horse, knocking over multiple stalls and passers-by. It took a Blacksmith with a chain and both Henry and Louise to constrain the child - roaring and screaming at the horse that had defeated him. Although he had taken severe blows to the head from the beast, it had only served to make him angrier rather than stay him. Morgan was taken home and kept there.
It was a few weeks later, when Morgan was taller than Henry and had eaten the family donkey, when the family were forced to admit their fears - Morgan was not a little boy lost in the wreckage, but an Ogre whelp dropped or left behind by the Ogre stampede. Henry bought a horse and cart, and sent Morgan off with a knife and a deer carcass to fend for himself.

Years later, in the Stronghold deep in the Mountains of Mourn, a band of Ogres walked up to the gates. They bore an outlandish look, trinkets scattered amongst the Ogres from all ends of the World. Their leader stepped forth, a large, brute-faced Ogre with a scar over his right eye. Morgan, or Cap'n Morgan as he was known amongst his band of Ogres, had come home.
Over many barrels of ale, Morgan told his tale of travelling through Bretonnia and finding a travelling band of Ogres lost in the West. Morgan's ferocity soon won him leadership over the Ogres, and he led them South near the seatown of Brionne. In a small fishing village they stole a ship, and sailed out to sea. Off the coast of Bretonnia they were attacked by a War Galleon, "Lady", and their ship was all but destroyed in a volley of cannonfire. Morgan reacted quickly by loading Gnoblars into the ship's cannons, and fired the frenzied greenskins onto the war vessel. Before "Lady" could react, waves and waves of Gnoblars flew over the sides of their ships, knives in hand. While the crew were distracted, Morgan veered his ship into the side of "Lady", and the Ogres began climbing the sides of the galleon. As soon as the Gnoblars had all been killed or hurled overboard, the first Ogres began vaulting themselves over the sides of the ship, armed with warhammers and cannons and steel fists. Within minutes the ship was taken, and Morgan became a Captain.
Cap'n Morgan and his crew sailed into the Great Sea, pillaging the coasts of Estalia and Araby and eventually the tropical lands leading into the Sea of Dread. It was there that the Ogres came into most of their wealth, jewels "borrowed" from the Lizardmen in the Jungles, and a large stone Morgan claimed came from the heart of a great Sea Monster, although it was loudly claimed that he was exaggerating, and that the stone was found on the beach. It was agreed however that the Ogres landed north of the Dragon Isles, and fought through the Howling Wastes to the Mountains of Mourn.

The Ogres stayed in the Stronghold for years, learning the ways of traditional Ogre life, that the crew longed for and Morgan never knew. They hunted and tamed Mournfangs and Rhinoxen, and to their dismay accumulated many Gnoblar followers. They left the Mountains of Mourn again the next winter, and came back to the secluded cove where they had beached their ship. Rhinoxen and Ogres together heaved the galleon back into the deeper waters, and the Ogres sailed back into the Ocean, cannons braced and axes sharpened.
I miss the Tenderiser...
I used to be called "Ghlezgar", if you want to know.
