Everyone and their mother claims it will be Bloodbowl 2013, sadly I have news for you it ain't coming. Besides Games Workshop licenses Bloodbowl out to any 3rd-party developer who can write a check; Blood Bowl was just one of those rumors that makes sense to a fan-boi, but not (remember Dreadfleet) Games Workshop. Speaking of misfires Games Workshop cannot afford to take random risks. Now, GW has consolidated (killing off specialists games) there IPs, they are turning to making new products. With a lust for a Space Hulk type gravy train GW will return to what makes them the most money: the Warhammer 40k universe. So, what is up GW's sleeve? GW is about to enter the skirmish scene with the release of Warhammer 40k: Inquisition Inquisition is designed for 2-4 players and each side will use custom cards and dice. Army sizes consist of about 5-10 models per side. A whole new set of models drawn from Blanche artwork will accompany. The game should be flexible as you can make and design your own Inquisitorial retinue. As for rules complexity that is anyone's guess, but the general marketing goal for Inquisition is a gateway game into the greater Warhammer 40k universe. Beyond that GW, seems to be taking cues from Kickstarter projects like Sedition Wars and home-brewed rules like Inq28 for Inquisitor. This also might not end up as a limited edition run, but that all depends on sales, and if any support is continued will be done through digital expansions and updates. As it is that is all I have for now, but if my sources hold true expect more information as it comes!
While I really like the idea behind this, for the love of all that is holy do NOT base the models of Blanches artwork. He is a really good artist, at least when he tries, but the style he's adopted of the sketchy stuff is just so awful I'd hate to see that used on models. Most army books have fantastic artwork but the huge amount of his stuff in the Daemons book really detracted from it compared to the other pieces of "normal" art.

Say what? The models featured in the last WDs, shown in the Blanche section based on his drawings, are frikkin awesome.

I don't buy WD all that often, aren't they normally reader submissions though?
Yeah, not a fan of his artwork at all, just looks sloppy in my opinion, when he takes his time and does "proper" art then yes, those are really good, but his sketchy style just doesn't work for me. I know it's all subjective but that's how I feel. THe minis could be amazing and I hope they are.

The good this is that models can't be produced in the "sketchy" style; so they'd have to be based on his more "completed" artwork.

Some but that is not the point I am making.
They are based upon his work, like so much else in the 40K background.

I would be very interested in this game if GW manages to write clear and tight rules for a skirmish game. It needs to be playable quickly and fun at the same time. I don't want to spend 2 hours playing a Skirmish game like what they seem to be planning when I can just play a game of Warhammer in the same time.

Personally, I am quite excited about this. I would have preferred this to be Bloodbowl or Necromunda getting a rerelease, but I will settle for a 28mm version of Inquisitor. It was the one thing that put me off the original.

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

I would absolutely love this to be true!

Personaly i cant see GW doing this one, i cant see them selling a game where u only need a few models to play-they want to sell big armys instead

Space Hulk and Dreadfleet kinda blow that theory out of the water, I'm afraid.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.
Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.

Exactly! And following this trend, is where this rumour has grown from. I definitely hope it's true. But, if it does follow the trend of Space Hulk and Dreadfleet, it will also be a limited edition...

space hulk worked as it was an oppotunity to develop the process of how the models are tooled, and also it was helped by the fact that the models were tweaked slightly then used in dark vengance. So the advancement paid for its self and gw were happy with it. Dread fleet is a reason whey they will be wanting to sell more products than just the box as they still need to make up the shortfall in sales, They will be wanting maximum risk free cash. possibly a box set that runs alongside the current 40k line, like one of there expansions like appocalips but in a box form. Would u like to have a wager? say one pet gnoblar?

I see your point, and I do believe in the case of Space Hulk, it is definitely spot on. That said, I don't believe GW would have allowed John Blanche's sinfully dull series run through the last however many issues of White Dwarf, without it serving some sort of purpose, in relation to sell products. This will be that product I reckon.
I would very much like to wager Two Pet Gnoblar's to the winner!

It could add up, but i dont see the catch for gw, why would they do it? yes it will pay a big wad of cash short term, but why not just re do necromunda or similar. Any way i will put my gnoblar on it being a 40k expansion that u can buy extra mainstream stuff for. Either way im going to buy it.

Because if they redid Necromunda there'd be a call to support it. They'd also have to produce all the gangs again. They could just do a box with two gangs in it and let people do that themselves but it wouldn't be a nice move for the community to restrict what they have. Plus they've got direct competition from Mantic and Deadzone, with the Kickstarter due to to be shipped in December. While I'm sure GW probably aren't really bothered about Mantic it wouldn't make sense to do a direct competition for sales when they don't actually tell us what there is being released until the WD a week before hand. Look at last year where rumours of Man o' War coming back were heard, no one expected Dreadfulfleet and it was a really hit and miss product from them. I think they really did a bad job with it. Might not be a bad game (not played it so can't comment) but doing something against the strength of an old game like Man O War was not right.

It was a great game, really fun with an awesome mat and models - just perhaps not 70 quid's worth of fun. I think that's the only mistake GW made, at 40-odd pounds it would have been much more palatable. The fans have only themselves to blame for thinking they'd be getting Man O' War from clearly dodgy sources and being disappointed.

Agreed. What really put me off (other than the stupid price tag) was a quote in a white dwarf from some people, I'll have to paraphrase but it was something like "we were playing this game and started at 9pm, when we looked up it was 1.30am, this game is awesome."
I don't want a game where one mission takes 4.5 hours to play, they hadn't even finished the game at that point either.....
