Question on trappers

original thread ↗

If gnoblar trappers are in a building, do the opponents take the DT test when they charge?  Does the building have a front?

That would be nice because they're stubborn in a building and the enemy has to charge every turn.  :/  Lots of DT tests.

I would assume that they would be forced to take DT tests every time.  The only way to contact a unit is to charge it, I don't think that would change in this case.  Additionally, units in buildings don't have flanks so it would stand to reason that every facing is the front for purposes of charging.  Makes sense because it works the same way for shooting.

Also remember you can stand and shoot every time too because gnoblars are quick to fire  :D
Yes.

I believe the building rules say that all charges are considered front charges. There is no side or rear when in a building. Thus you would always take a DT test when charging trappers in a building.

Another question......would anyone bother charging a building with trappers in them?
Those who live by the sword, get shot by those who don't.

Wouldn't you want a rather large pack of Gnoblars in the building though?
They'll charge the Watchtower scenario.

You'd need a good block, but remember that you'll get some shooting at close range each turn too (crappy, thrown weapons).

Definitely remember units do not stay in combat if they fail to take the building. They push back 1".

Its a vicious cycle. Opponent charges, takes DT and a Stand and Shoot. They kill most of the 10 gnoblars sent to fight them, the gnoblars get maybe 1-2 wounds though. Gnoblars are stubborn ("always considered steadfast" according to BRB) and with the BSB/ General in range you'll likely pass, they pull out 1". You throw more stuff at them in your turn. Next turn it begins anew.
Game's the same, just got more fierce.

In the interim - you hold the watchtower with a unit that wasn't going to do much else anyway. Your regular units are free to maneuver.

The cost of three Ogres buys a good deal of gnoblars.
