Warriors of Chaos help

original thread ↗

Hey guys, I am facing Warriors of Chaos soon, and being new to Ogres I am not entirely sure what would be good against them? Some things I am worried about that my opponent fields:

Daemon Prince, of course. He usually makes him Tzeentch or Nurgle, 1+ armor, charmed shield and the likes.

21 Nurgle Warriors with Halberds. Meaning my Ironguts hit on 5's and get wounded on 3's.

Flying BSB. He doesn't accomplish much, but he will eventually add combat res and he is almost unkillable.

1-2 Chimeras. Not as threatening but they can still be annoying due to high amount of attacks, and fly.

1-2 Hellcannons. From my experience you just have to hope they misfire or scatter...

And probably the least threatening but still annoying, 3-4 Skullcrushers. usually I re-direct them but sometimes if I get out deployed they can end up hurting.
Go to the Warriors vs. Ogres forum and you'll find answers to all of those questions.
It's under 'know your enemy'.
The enemy of my enemy is my double enemy.

Gut magic:  The art of eating what nobody else wants to eat, just to see what happens.
Shooting. Namely, Ironblasters, Leadbelchers and, if you're so inclined, Maneaters. The IBs are great for dealing with the high volume of single-model threats whilst the Leadies can strip wounds off infantry quite happily before contributing to the punch-up that you'll seek to engineer in turns 3-4 after you've forced his hand with said shooting.

Skullcrushers can be a right pain as their AS is unreal and IB's will probably have more appropriate targets to shoot - Sabretusks can make a real mess of their day what with their forced overrun. This is also one of the few matchups in which I'd advocate a Stonehorn over, say, Mournfangs, as several units (Daemon Princes in particular) are dependent on their high WS and Mark of Nurgle to keep incoming attacks at bay and with our poor WS it's quite effective. Ol' Smashy bypasses this issues by handing them a nice face full of high-S autohits.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Don't shoot at the BSB btw. You probably already know how unkillable he is, but the temptation is always there.

Cannon the face off the Prince more than anything. He's the biggest complication, though not being able to Thunderstomp hurts him a little.

Chimeras are jerks too. Good fireball targets, but some Mournfang charges could get them out of the way. Just don't let yourself get lured into a trap.

What lore does he use? It's probably Nurgle, which is very annoying. If the prince is the caster though it might let you avoid a few nasty hexes or augments messing up combats, if you can keep him locked away somewhere.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
Alright so here is my list of potential strategies and units to field.

I might try a Tyrant and a cheap Slaughtermaster with just a dispel scroll. Tyrant will have Fencers Blades, Glittering Scales, Giantbreaker and Other Tricksters shard. This way with a 4+ Regen he could probably kill a Daemon Prince in a challenge if it comes to it. Especially if he goes Tzeentch.

Stonehorn, maybe 2.

Ironblaster, 2 of them if I dont field a Stoner.

Leadbelchers. Not sure what unit sizes though. Maybe two units of 4, or one unit of 6.

Maneaters with Poison and Sniper, maybe they can take out one of his supporting casters, or add some wounds to the Prince and the BSB.

I'm currently working on an ogre MSU army and I've found that the sheer volume of firepower provided by 2 units of 5 leadies is unreal, it causes warriors to quake in their boots! I'm seriously considering squeezing in a 3rd unit of 5, they are just so good!

I suppose it helps that for some reason my leaddies shoot like absolute monsters.

My regular dark elf opponent got extremely annoyed when in 3 rounds of shooting I didnt roll less than 22 shots for either unit (thats 6 rolls of a 5D6, each time rolling more than a 22, mostly 25 or 26), but i suppose i was very lucky there
