Really surprised by some of the ratings on here.
Do people honestly believe that a slaughtermaster is overpriced/overpowered? Considering to take anything other than Maw you HAVE to pay a tax.
Ironguts...43pts and people think they're OP? They're good but not incredible.
SMs are rated so highly because they're not actually that expensive compared to other level 4s and in return they bring so much else to the table. They fight well, they're insanely tough (with the ability get wounds back), they can abuse the MI and Make Way rules, inflict impacts and stomps and can wear magic armour. Their shortcomings in the Ld department are easily rectified. The guy is overall one of if not
the most cost-effective general in the game, there's very little he doesn't do well and the premium you pay compared to other casters in other books is relatively tiny. Gut magic is a perfectly fine lore and whilst the others are also tasty, a Butcher is hardly a bad choice anyway. Besides, a level 4 is mainly about the +4 bonuses to casting and dispelling, with lore choice being a more secondary thing in my opinion.
Ironguts aren't, by themselves, inherently OP, but without them the Gutstar wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is. Again, I'll list their virtues: They get a magic banner, they power up and inflict impact hits, they have a load of S6 attacks and can't even be attacked or targeted with spells with the right characters in the right formation. To top it all off, these guys are Core - whilst most armies sigh at the prospect of having to fill up 25%, we take it in full stride and still have access to the full gamut of awesome Special and Rare choices. They just have so much going for them and so few downsides when used correctly.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.
Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
