One Leadbelcher or two units of Trappers?

original thread ↗

So my current list sits at 1989 Pts.

I'm having difficulty making the choice between dropping one of my 4 Lead belchers to free up points in making both my Gnoblar units trappers. http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=27188.0 <--- Thats my army list.

So does anyone have their 2 Cents on the matter? I know Gnoblars aren't as obviously useful as Leadbelchers… But it would be nice to have some trappers too.
IMO I never take less then 4 leadbelchers, 3 just does not seem to cut it.

Gnoblars are chaff and I would suggest max out on sabretusks before taking gnoblars as chaff
Those who live by the sword, get shot by those who don't.

Well, if you can get any practice games in, I'd say: try it both ways at least a couple times, and see which works best for you and your playstyle!

That being said, I agree with Ispa in that 4 leadies minimum seems to work the best. However, Gnoblar trappers can find their worth... depending on how you play them :P

My gut instinct would be to keep the 4 leadies and only have 1 unit of 10 Gnoblar trappers (dissolving the one unit's points into the others lol). But, that's how I'd do it.
38 Gnobs! Almost on my 4th Pack of Trappers! Exciting
Gibblet, Nibblet, Crunchybit, Snorti, Lullzee, Wakezee, Wardler, and Primo! (For sharing the Forum Primer to help out a new member! )

New book WLD: 21/11/3 - Got trounced by one of the "Khaine" elf armies... Stupid new rules...

I'll give it a try, +D6 S4 -2 SV shots is… As you've both mentioned, good to have.

One unit of trappers is something I'll give a go. Thanks for your help guys.
Imo rather than upgrading units to trappers its better to take another unit of 10 of the little jerks.

They wont do much but there's no better way of flooding the field with lots of wounds and chaffe than more gnloblars.

The fact that they're core and dont cause panic in any other friendly units is just golden.
Problem is, as chaff Gnoblars have the problem of low speed. I tend to prefer the Trapper upgrade, simply as that way they become a LOT scarier as chaff, which for me makes up for it. Seriously, try some redirection with them on a Deathstar. On one charge alone they can nearly make their points back (once dropped 11 Saurus Warriors thanks to that lovely upgrade).
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
