firebelly

original thread ↗

Good evening tyrants,

I am thinkin about lists and good hero/unit pairings, I will be getting back into playing within the Next month. So without further ado, I was wondering how much wud a hellheart firebelly in with a group of leadbelchers, I was thinkin it wud keep the ranged witho ranged, and give them a bit of staying power incase something gets to them. Thoughts?

A firebelly won't really increase the staying power of the belchers by much, what he will do it increase their damage output. If that is your plan I would recommend upgrading to Lvl 2 and hope you roll a 2 for spell selection, if not you'll still have two options for ranged damage output from him. Given that belchers can Move and Shoot with impunity you'll also want to look for a way to fire his breath weapon in the shooting phase, that plus a volley from his unit should force a check on most any unit.
Game's the same, just got more fierce.

Hellheart is usually close-ranged though.

Not sure if you should be putting it on a unit that will probably spend the game trying to be unengaged for as long as it can. The leadbelchers COULD move and shoot, yes, but generally kiting the opponent, not moving right towards the enemy, unless it's something small and squishy that belchers can handle without too much trouble. And even then, you've just fielded some very expensive ogres without ironfists or full command.

Also, Generally the mages you want in range of the hellheart are bunkered in tough units, or are single highly maneuverable models. Not very good targets for a leadbelcher charge.

Firebelly good in a unit of belchers yes, but hellheart should probably be in a unit that WANTS to get into your opponent's face.

Agreed.

If you have two wizards, give the hellheart to the one most likely to get close or die first, and the one who's likelier to live longer should have the dispel scroll - nothing sucks as much as losing the scroll bearer early.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
