Hello fellow Ogres! I have recently been pulled towards the great maw as of late and have been enlightened by its all inspiring power and hunger! This has obviously lead me to take up the Ogre Kingdoms once again, I had them a few years ago when they initially came out but never got a game in with them. After playing a small 1500 point game with the fatties the other day i found i really enjoyed the play style of the ever hungry brutes and the synergies the army has.
My tribe, The Hard Gutz, dwell in the remains of a once great dwarfen mining settlement, after invading and devouring all who inhabited the settlement, the ogres made short work of beating the various ores into huge gut plates and thus became known for the huge bulks of metal strapped to the their guts, heads and arms. (ill finish writing some proper fluff when i get sufficient time)
So the theme is heavily armored ogres, i have always been disappointed by Games Workshops laziness when they first released ogres the fact the difference between an iron gut and a bull was a slightly more fancy gut plate and a 2 handed weapon when they are supposed to be the elite-ish of the tribes with the best armor and weapons. So you can imagine how pleased i was when i saw the mournfang and all the special little bits that came with them. I ended up getting a handful of spare gut plates and heads off them and decided to put them to good use by making more distinguishable iron guts with a simple kit bash!
cue pictures! ( i am aware they are unpainted and slightly unfinished, i plan to model some more little plates onto their trousers and shoulders asif screwed directly into the Ogres flesh.) I feel just changing the gut plates for a bigger size has made the world of difference and using various heads from the kits has given them a slightly more tougher feel (i am especially fond of the ironblaster gunner head what a brilliant sculpt!)
I have also tried to create as dynamic poses as possible without extensive green stuff work due to short amount of time to get this army to a playable level (we can proxy and use unfinished models at my gaming club but i lack the bodies at the moment so speed is everything for the moment)
So not using all those original Iron Gut gut plates lead me to further make my bulls a little bit more special looking to fit with the heavily armored theme.
Im really pleased with the pose of this bellower model considering it was a few simple arm swaps
I also managed to get extremely lucky the other day a independent GW retailer near me was selling off a load of ogre stuff so i decided to go down and check it out, albeit it was second hand and in need of some repair. I managed to pick up a Thundertusk, Stonehorn, Slaughtermaster, firebelly, coverted BSB, gorger, 4 Sabretusks, 4 ogres on sprue and a million half used ogres sprues all for 40 GBP bargain i think!
I have managed to strip it all relatively easily aswel - This thundertusk was caked in paint and after a few hours in the stripper its come up pretty good i feel, well good enough to re paint at least!
Now on to something ive actually painted! This is the first ogre model i have actually painted in a good few years and still needs a few final details and touch ups on the rider. I decided for a purple theme running through the army as its one of the colours i actually really enjoy painting
Thats all for now but i should hopefully have a bigger update on the painting front this week as ive got 10 iron guts to start!

i have finished the command models to my ironguts so i am a third of the way to finishing the irongut unit! Still have a mountain of ogres to start though
