Mawaaagh's! Gnoblog (no ork just ogre)

Hey guys!

so it's been a few years since I was involved in GW gaming and painting, and after long time gone I've decided to come back! When I was first into gaming I played 40k and had around 2000 points of Orks, I wanted to try out fantasy this time and was immediately drawn to ogres. I have bought a battalion box and plan on getting started with building and painting ASAP, I love the game, but also really enjoy the building and painting aspect of the hobby as I think we all should, that being said I want to get my army finished in a reasonable amount of time, but plan on concentrating on quality rather than how quickly i can begin playing. I will be posting many process photos and would love any C&C as I know i still have a long way to go with my painting skills.

Back again!

Here are some photos of my first gnoblar, I wanted to paint some of these guys first to get back in the swing of model painting without potentially having a couple sloppy looking ogres in my army, I figured with 24 of these tiny guys in a squad that minor imperfections wouldn't be noticed on the table top, I also want to get a little practice in with smaller troops because I want to make sure my ogres look damn good!

I've started working on my first bull, I wanted to make a test model to see how the colors i have chosen turn out, There is still quite a bit of work to do on the model but I wanted to post what i have done so far, Let me know what you think!

I really like the colours so far I've always been a big fan of skin colours for Ogres, that take a step away from the more conventional grey of the GW models... I can't wait to see more

I like really pale green skin color. When i used to have a big ogre army i only had rotting flesh to paint the skin with.. After that a pale green skin color grew on me. Also a fan of greenish skin colors for ogres

Experimenting with a red skin color looks pretty awesome if the tint is orange-ish

I've finished up my first bull! *maybe* not sure if he needs some final finishing touches or not, but I wanted to post what i have done so far to see what you guys think.

Yeah, I like the idea of using green for the skin as well, I just don't want them to look too orky. I have some more pale greens that I am going to try out, I will post pictures as soon as I get a bull started.

After taking some time to step back and look at my first Bull again I noticed that he still needed some more highlights to really make him pop. I added the highlights and am somewhat pleased with the results. I think for my first attempt at not dry brushing to get highlights I did an alright job, my only problem with the model is that the colors could be more blended, anyone got any tips on how to make the gradient between my base and the highlight more gradual?

Looking good! The red skin looks pretty awesome and the highlights are good!
All you need is to base it and its done!

Yeah i think i caught most of the major mold lines and cut them out carefully, I may have missed a few in areas that were difficult for me to reach with a hobby knife though.

I'm glad you like the model. I am currently working on my first iron gut and will hopefully have some photos up either today or tomorrow

I still need to paint the banner on this guy, but he is done, his right arm came from the slaughter master box, first time using green stuff! and i'm pretty happy with the result, enjoy!
