Raven Tribe... Again

original thread ↗

So, since my first topic wasn't moved, and finaly I have some more free time. I'm going onto my ogres painting time! :D So far I have shown effects on my ironblaster and conversions of my Heroes. Since today I want to finish up my 40k Lamenters, starting tomorow, I'm going to do either Leadbelchers, or my heroes. Not sure which one to start with. So I primed both of those, and made a Pic, of my whole army so far. For future I plan on extending the saber tusks (most likely from 40k Wolves) Mournfangs, and probably 2nd Ironblaster.

Long story short: Tomorow I'm starting to paint these of my models. My heroes and Belchers are already primed and ready for some painting fun.

Finaly finished my first models. Actualy decided, to paint both at once. After finishing bases, I'm ready to post my results. The PVA glue on tufts may still be visible, but other than that, they are finished. My slaughtermaster and Butcher skin tone resulted a bit too dark for what I wanted to have. Tell me what you think :).

My BSB:

My Slaughetrmaster/Firebelly (on the left) and butcher/slaughtermaster (on the right)

And my Leadbelchers:

Any1 has any nice image uploading site with multiple uploads? I'm not a fan of minatures on forum, and uploading single pic by single is a bit pain in the butt :) Hope you like them. Criticism always welcome.
I use Photobucket personally, never had any serious issues with it.

Nice minis so far, keep 'em coming!

More of my guys :). 1st and 2nd rank of my gutstar is ready.

Also big thanks for photobucket :). Realy like the interface and all. Thanks much! :D
Glad I could help, it appears to me to be one of the better hosting sites!

Nice lot of Guts going on there too! Looking good!

Good progress and not a bad wash job.. hopefully you go back and highlight in the end.
Finaly Finished my ironguts. This is the pic of my last rank, and overall pic of my army progress :) Hope you enjoy!
It just struck me that you are painting the boots the same as the pants.. like steel shod footy pajamas. I would recommend you make all your boots black or brown or something.
Haha! I hadn't noticed this til now yes - the Onesie tribe :) other than great, great execution, tidy and precise!

It just struck me... Ogre with Cheetah onsesie :D. Actualy I could use spare sabertusk pelt from Ironblaster sprues for that xD.

Since this will be my main blog, I'll post my Ironblaster yet again here for sure, to have everything in one place :).
Actualy, Uploading additional one extra memorable pic of my historical first Ogre model in progress :D.

Actualy now that I look more and more on the model, I see the things I could do differently.
1. Highlight rhinox eyes (doing it right now)
2. Unlike my other ogre bases, this one wasnt toned with shade. To my taste seems to bright. I'll do it in some time
3. Could work abit more on Rhinox fur (first time working with fur models, hey, good experience to have anyway :) ) And the "furless" areas on his butt - I didn't had idea, how to paint them. After more and more thinking, I just gave up, and painted it like the rest of the fur xD.
4. Could somehow join together leatherstraps that connect tusks to the chariot. Green stuff wasn't possible, becouse I didnt want to paint them assembled together.
Looking good!

And yes that was the idea lol, take the head from the Ironblaster kit for the hood and model the rest into a "onesie" :P

As for your Iron blaster, yes the leather straps annoyed me also!!!! they don't match up!
I also know what you mean with the skin patches on the Rhinox lol... wasn't sure how to paint mine either, so went with a blue tinge to a hide colour to represent a cold ass lol...

You can go back and stuff some greenstuff in that leather strap.. you can paint it without priming it if the spot won't be handled much.. or spray primer in the cap of the can and paint it onto the greenstuff with an old brush.
Ironblaster looks great. Very tidy painting, well executed.

Also - the idea of an ogre in a sabretusk onesie offends me so much I want to make my own! :)

Damn, it took so looong to actualy post my finished stuff. From what I have (9 guts, bsb, SM, Butcher, 6 Bulls, 4 belchers, Ironblaster) I finished finaly ALL of them! Yay!

I realy wanted to make some free hand work with my ogres. I'm not a fan of ogre tatoos. I prefer the clean skin. So I decided to make a banner with the most common ogre emblem. To me it looks realy cool. After washinng, one of my guys and the standard bearer resulted to be WAAAY too dark (I've got a black guy in the back ranks :D ). Managed to rehighlight and reblend the banner, but the guy behind will need complete repainting in the future. So far I'm satisfied, how my whole regiment sorted out.

And as you said. I'll probably keep the onesie look ;) Don't know why, but after test painting one of bulls with boots, I prefered the onesie ones ;).

So pics!

The ironfists were covered both, with blood and rust paints. I think I might rehighlight the rust ones, since they resulted a bit too dark in the end. Hope you enjoy! :)
I like the onesie...in fact it's growing on me more and more. Sort of like each ogre has had all his clothes ,add from the same scarce piece of cloth by a gnoblar driven insane by needle and thread...

Great unit there. Army looks great too :) should consider posting in the monthly painting challenge as you seem to get things done quite quickly!

It took me about 3-4 hours for 4 guts, and only 2,5 hours for those bulls xD. When I do have free time, My painting goes rather fast. I especialy like to paint ogre models somehow :D. Every1 is different. Previous painting 40k space marine models seemed so repetitive. Can't wait till I'll get money on the mournfangs :D
