W.I.P of my Ogre horde and projects

original thread ↗

Hi all,

So first post here and currently plenty of ideas of what to make. Time however is a heavy constrain on my painting hours.

My todo list includes:
Finish my mournfangs (base colors done)
Finish my Ironguts
Basing my Ogres
Model custom Man-eaters from left over Mournfang/iron/stonehorn bits.

But first some WIP pictures of my bash bashed/ converted Ironblaster.

The idea came from another other thread here (http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=26791.0) where there are links to similar projects.

My starting point is an older metal steam tank that I would rather destroy in the process than paint up and let my buddy use as a second tank against my Ogres :  ) I will add parts of a Orc chariot, lot of gnoblars from the Ironblaster (the old tank wont fit an Ogre and maybe the results can proxy both a scraplauncher and ironblaste). The chassis will be based on part of the old siege wagon... I found part of the wagon but not the whole deal so here we go! : ) All pictures are by phone but hopefully I will figure out to work the light source better for the next round of pictures...

My issues so far is:

I still lack a pair of wheels from another chariot..

I dont know whether to use a traditional Empire cannon, the original tank cannon or another bit. The tank cannon is small, impotent and odd so I will skip that - my thought right now is to use an empire mortar barrel as only the tip will be visible anyway and then Ogre-fy the barrel opening somehow.

My Green Stuff skillz are no-existent (so far)

When I do a quick assembly without glue the model lacks some more feeling of being a ogre model. Especially the engine looks too clean and not battle-damaged enough (yet).

Any suggestions so far is more than welcome! Both to how to equip the top part (the old chariot), mount the cannon, general Ogre-fications and other good bits to use : )

And while I am busy doing other things, I can at least post another WIP picture of my ogres:

The guys are missing highlights on weapons/plates and skin... also the bases lack static grass (I still need to find the right color or mixture of colors : )

I tried to get different skin tone for all my ogres to give some diversity.

Converted men eaters - bits from mournfang, ironguts, lead belchers and a dwarf organ gun:

They were fast to make and will hopefully as a unit stand out a bit from the rest of my ogres.

Comments are of course welcome!

Looking good :) Personally prefer the last man eater. When I seen him I thought "HEY! I'll give my ME's Cigars!?"

Ive been thinking about doing a steam tank conversion for a while on an Iron blaster since I hate the model so much! So I for one will be following your WIP shots of it :)
If you wouldn't mind could you post any step by steps you may have? ;) :P

Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully soon I can add actual ogre pictures! : )

Obviously the paint job on all the models is fantastic, but I REALLY love the basing. Excellent stuff!

Hey all,

So just to break the normal quietness around here I will probably post even less here for the time to come as I will be moving from small Denmark to the big US. Warhammer figures (especially fat ogres) just doesnt go well with a tight packing plan, so until I settle in and figure out how Warhammer is going to work out I might not be around here too much. But hopefully maybe with some other stuff than ogres... we will see.

See you guys around the Stronghold.
