2400pts Tournament list, need feedback

original thread ↗

Hey people,

Not to long ago i've started ogres and next 11th of may there is a big club-based tournament here. I have signed up with ogres (rest of team: Skaven, WoC and DoC). I have build a list with the restrictions that the tournament gave us.

Restrictions:
No more than 2,400 points may be spent on the army, using one standard army list.
Armies must follow the restrictions on army selection of their own Army book,
with the following exceptions:
- No more that one of the same Rare Choice above 100 points each.
- No more than two of the same Special Choice above 80 points each.
- Magic Users must choose their Lore(s) of Magic for the entire tournament, not per battle!
- No Special Lord Characters are allowed. Note that Special Heroes and Unique Champions ARE allowed!
- Unique Characters cannot be taken more than once per Team.
- Use of Wizards: You can have a maximum of 4 Wizards. Pick your wizards following these guidelines:
-- Your FIRST Wizard can be max. lv. 4
-- Your SECOND Wizard can be max. lv. 3
-- Your THIRD Wizard can be max. lv. 2
-- Your FOURTH Wizard can only be lv. 1

So my list is as followed:
Lords (388pts)

Slaughtermaster (388pts)
Ironfists, Lore of the Great Maw, Wizard Level 4
Armour of Destiny, Hellheart

Heroes (340pts)

Bruiser (195pts)

4x Mournfang Cavalry (360pts)
Bellower, Champion
Heavy Armour, Ironfists
Standard Bearer
Dragonhide Banner

Rare (420pts)

With regards,

Oki, I have played some games with the list above, but I missed the punch with both my Units of bulls/ironguts.
I rewritten the list to a Gutstar format. I have played one game with it and it seemed to get more punch. Only problem is that I pu more eggs in one basket.

What do you guys think I should do. It is a big tournament and I want to be competitive for once (I have been playing Tomb Kings somewhat poorly).

My new List:
Lords (370pts)

Slaughtermaster (370pts)

Lore of the Great Maw, Wizard Level 4
Dispel Scroll, Fencer's Blades, Glittering Scales

Heroes (364pts)

Bruiser (194pts)
Heavy Armour
Battle Standard Bearer
Rune Maw

Firebelly (170pts)
Lore of Fire, Wizard Level 1
Hellheart

Core (680pts)

15x Ironguts (680pts)
Bellower, Standard Bearer
Banner of Discipline

Special (565pts)

5x Leadbelchers (215pts)

4x Mournfang Cavalry (350pts)
Bellower, Heavy Armour, Ironfists
Standard Bearer
Dragonhide Banner

Rare (420pts)

Ironblaster (170pts)

Stonehorn (250pts)
Harpoon Launcher

Is the list made to face all other types of armies?

I would be very concerned about the two relative weak combat characters locked in the horde unit and that you field very few units for a 2400 pt game.

The list is simple (to me) much a specialized list running both a stonehorn and a horde (which by no means are poor choices) but against some opponents will be easy targets.

I would look around the forum to see some other all-comer armies with more flexibility : ) And then there will be lots of room for the stonehorn!

Cheers!
