Why do I see alot of people take The Other Trickstershard and Combine it with 4+ wardsaves?

It seems like an odd thing to combine?

Re-read the rules for the Other Trickster's Shard.
8th Edition New book Win Rate 4-1-0

Well, the Other Trickster's Shard only affects your opponents in combat, not you. It makes them reroll successful wardsaves. Just an fyi ;)

every model in base contact.

So don't put a model right next besides it, that uses a wardsave :-)

Wasn't there an FAQ stating whether a model is in base contact with itself or not? My memory fails me, I believe we've had a discussion on this before...

That sure makes the item much more usefull ;)
It was still viable even when the bearer had to reroll if you didnt go Ward saves

There was a part in the FAQ stating that :
Q: Is a model considered to be in base contact with its self? (var)
A: No

Page 5 of the General Rule book FAQ under "General Principles"

A model is not in base contact with itself : )
So items/magic/demonic gifts that deal damage to models in basecontact would also hurt itself? ; )

...and the faq was just posted above - great.
