2000 pts vs Deamons of Nurgle

original thread ↗

This is the list I tend to run against my friends Nurgles. He is trying stuff out with the new book so probably will field minimum amount needed of core plaguebearers and the rest will fill up with all sorts of nastiness. I expect an unclean one or two deamon princes and one hell canon for sure.

What do you guys think?

You will have hard time hitting those nurgles with WS 3 troops. -1 to hit in CC mens you will hit on 5+ and wound on 4+ with basic ogres.

You should consider things that counters nurgle:

- high WS vs nurgle passive (maneaters / mass stopms and impacts)
- shoting attacks (-1 to hit works only in close combat, so add leadbelchers / shoting maneaters)
- flaming attacks to prevent regeneration (firebelly / flaming banner)
- poison or high S to wound against theirs T5 (many nurgle units have T5)

if I remember correctly Deamon Prince is lord choice so is GUO. So he may bring only one of those in 2000 pts. game.
I now found out the hard way that these nurgles are tough to beat. Got 2 groups of plaguebearers against me. 1st one was only 15 big and was rolled up with the ironguts in no time. The killy slaughtermaster helped very good here. The other group was my plan to get to grips with the ogres and the stonehorn, however the dawn scenario depicted placing mine and his troops very uncunveniently on one flank (for the most part). My stonehorn got in combat with the great unclean one....alone...the plaguebearers ganged up....alas...no stonehorn any more.

shooting went well indeed, so more of that and more high S hits I agree. I'm doing maneaters next time and will try some mournfang who are now under brush and paint.
