ogre size net

Hey guts,
Anyone know of a good green stuff tutotial for net? Or failing that rope?
Or a large enough net - gamesworkshop perferably- or alternative for me to use on a mournfang to make the rider look like he is riding past and netting something?

I'd say try the netting bag off a sack of tangerines or something similar. With some PVA glue on it it'll stiffen up and make reasonably sized netting.

For sack-cloth or netting i personally, would do this;

take a dish-cloth ( i dont know if they are called something different in other countries), a cloth you wash dishes with anyway. In the UK they are white and have a shabby blue or red seam.
Cut it to the size you want then soak it (immerse it) in PVA glue.
Leave it to dry a bit, then mould it to the shape you want. Different cloth's have different weaves, so just find one that looks most like the effect you want.
I did this for shabby robes for my Ogres, but i am sure it would work for netting/ nets.

*just re-read your question. When the cloth is soacked in PVA glue pull it/ stretch it out so the weave parts out more creating more gaps that you can see through. I did the opposite for the cloak things above, because i wanted a more clothy look, but i am sure if you pull the cloth, spread the weave and let it dry it would work. If it doesn't you have only lost the price of a dish-cloth and the time it takes for it to be soaked in PVA!  *

Honestly, as the lazy-b that i am, I would use a LEGO net.  :-)

I used fishnets for Retiari in Gladiator Ogres.  They are probably a bit thick since they really need stretching, but they worked ok.  It was an interesting experience buying fishnets, but just pretend you are going to a Rocky Horror costume party.

@Herder - Probably gunna steal your idea at some point though as it looks awesome on your blokes!

@Greywolf - Sterling idea dude and staring me right in the face! If i can't get my grubby little mits on a lego net ima go for your suggestion as it would be easier to shape

I have never had a problem painting over PVA, especially if you use a spray undercoat first!

As it's glue I assume that the paint sticks to it automatically! LOL

No problem painting over PVA for me. I didnt undercoat it either as i painted the ogres first then put the raggy cloack things on afterwards.
Once PVA was dry i just panited over it with a basecoat of Vallejo Chocolate brown then painted them as normal (whatever that is...paint, wash, paint, highlight).
On one of those guys ^ i think i soaked his raggy cloack in (old) Devlin mud first to stain the cloth. But TBH i can't remember which one and it's really irrelevant as i din't do it with all of them.
Painting on PVA...no problem at all.
