Another battle report, a short one unfortunately...since I had him nearly tabled by the top of his second round! I digress. This was a friendly game with a buddy I haven't seen in awhile which was originally suppose to be against Demons, but he was a sneaky Gutter Runner and switched on me.
My list:
Tyrant- General
Dueling Blades, Glimmering Scales, Amulet of Protection, Mawseeker
Bruiser- BSB
Armor of Fortune, Ironfist
Butcher- level 2
Gruts Sickle
10 Bulls
Full Command, LoG, AHW
4 Ironguts
6 Maneaters
Full Command, 3 GW, 3 AHW, HA, Standard of Dicipline
Stone horn
Giant
His Army:
Warlord- General
Weeping Blade, possibly other stuff
Grey Seer
Unknown equipment
Assassin
Really nasty throwing stars that do 9 hits at strength 5 w/ poison
25 Stormvermin
Full Command
2x60 Slaves (Steadfast formation)
14 Rat Ogres
Warp fire thrower
Warp Lightning Cannon
Doom wheel
We decided on the regular battle line scenario and I won the toss to go first. I had set up with my IG on my far right across from a slave unit and the WLC. With a wall separating my IG and my Bulls which is where I but my Bruiser and Butcher. Next to them went my Maneaters and Tyrant. Beside them, in a regular Forrest we t my Giant and holding my far left was my SH. He set up his doom wheel across from my Giant with his Rat Ogres opposite my Maneaters. The he placed his Stormvermin in the middle with his Slaves and WFT between slaves and Stormvermin
My first turn I moved my Maneaters and Giant up for a long charge. My Stonehorn went around a tower to threaten his rat ogre flank and draw out his Doomwheel. My IG moved up and over to bait his slaves and threaten his WLC. Magic was a flop with a failed casting of Trollguts. No shooting and no combat.
His turn brought about no charges against me. He brought up his rat ogres close to my Maneaters (apparently confident). He brought his Doomwheel in front of my SH to block any side charge against his ogres. His slaves moved up to threaten my IG and his Stormvermin moved up to threaten a side charge against anyone charging into his Ratogres. In Magic I let him get Skitterleap off on his Grey Seer who went behind my Bulls. I dispelled Scorch with ease. Shooting killed almost half of my Bulls from the WLC but they passed their panic. The WFT misfired and scattered but hit only air.
Top of turn two I duel charged his rat ogres with my Maneaters and Giant, the Giant failed. I also charged my SH into his Doomwheel and my IG into his Slaves. In magic I got Trollguts off at 20+ level, encompassing my Maneaters, bulls, and IG. Close combat I did four wounds to the Doomwheel and took four, he failed his run test and was run down but I didn't get far enough to side charge his Ratogres. I that combat he only got four wounds through thanks to Regen, in return I killed six Ratogres. He fled and I caught him. My Bulls had also charged his Stormvermin and killed over half the unit to his only one two Bulls (thanks Regen!). I chased down his Stormvermin. My IG took six wounds to his Assassin in stand and shoot and close combat. But in return I did 11 wounds, they failed their break test and exploded, don't nothing to me.
It was at this time he threw in the towel. Overall I'd say it was a combination of letting m charge and not getting stuck in where he needed to. I think he should have held back longer and shot and magicked me more. But I think his list wasn't that solid either.
