Chaos Dwarves...

original thread ↗

Hi all :)

I have been reading a little about Chaos Dwarf armies here, and on other forums across the 'net, and wondered which army list these players are using.

I mean, mentioning K'daai Destroyers makes me think the list from Tamurkhan. But, then that is an Allies list for the regular Warriors of Chaos, and not to be used on it's own... At least, according to the wording of the book.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Prrreetty sure the list in Tamurkhan can be used as an independent force, or a lot of players have been getting a lot of stuff very wrong indeed.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Ah right, I suspected as much, but I have a *cough* electronic *cough* copy of Tamurkhan, and I cannot find anywhere that it says that CD can be used as an independent list...

Don't get me wrong, I am hoping that you can, cause I am tempted to buy a CD army from Forgeworld... :)

its more of a gentlemens agreement i believe. technically CD don't exist but quite a few ppl have the models and a few tournies (certainly regional club ones in yorkshire) are saying that book counts as legal for the purposes of getting a CD army on the table for the event.

Brilliant! So, assuming I get my opponent's agreement, it shouldn't be an issue?

The balance of the army list shouldn't see many opponent's decline, right? :)

I would sure hope so, the army is really cool even if it lacks some units.
My hood is my castle...
Tamurkan does indeed have a stand alone army list for Chaos Dwarves.
Current win streak: 10

Things Fluffy,my Stonehorn, has flattened: Ancient Stegadon, Unit of 5 Chariots with Tomb king, Chaos Lord, Herald of Khorne on Jugger,

i dunno tbh, i would make sure you've got a game before you get in the car for a long drive to the club, or a backup army with you.
CD have got a bad rep round here as they have some funky rules and the K'dai is generally slated as being totally broken for the points/rules.
so long as you dont go mental with the gunline and kdai/destroyer thingies you should be ok
Okay, see that was pretty much the vibe I had picked up from the forums. I want to run a Destroyer and Fireborn combo, but not necessarily a killjoy army list...

My local gaming club are pretty laid back, although not necessarily horizontal enough to allow Destroyer and Magma cannon spam :)

The tamurkhan book explicitly states that CD are an official army list. Everything else in there is more "opponent's consent" so stuff like the Empire wizard on a dragon and so on. However the CD are categorically listed as an official army.

It's on a different page to the army list itself so likely that page isn't in your electronic copy. Some of the tamurkhan rules are in odd places.
Yeah, there's even a specific page stating what can be used when you use them as Warrior allies - I think a few things are restricted.

Just avoid the K'dai if you're worried about getting grief. There's a reasonable amount of variety in that book if you're going the casual route.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
Funnily enough, my electronic copy is literally a scan of every single page in the book... I must have just missed that page :) Oops!

Yeah, whilst I would probably go the more casual route anyway, I am really tempted to run a Destroyer, just for sheer giggles. Do people really think they are that broken? :)

Yeah, they're that broken. Compare it to a greater daemon. But much of the rest of the list isn't that bad and you can only have one at 2500 or below so that's a blessing too.
Fair enough. I think I'll chuck a list up sometime tomorrow, to get the general consensus before chucking the money down on the army :)
