The MAWesome Tribe

original thread ↗

Hi Everybody!

I used to play Skaven then Dark Elves in 6th Edition. A few months ago my friend Sean convinces me that 8th edition is a lot fun.  So, fast forward to now, I finished my 1000 points Ogres just in time to play in a 3-game tourney at GW yesterday. I came 7th out of 12 players!!

Over the last few months building and painting the Ogres, I learnt a lot by reading great discussion threads here at Ogre Stronghold to prepare for the games. Thanks Everyone!!

"The MAWesome Tribe"

1000 points List

Fire Belly Lv 1, General
GW, Ruby Ring, Dispel Scroll
Always took the Fireball Spell

8x Ogre Bulls, Iron Fists
Musc & Champ

7x Leadblechers (and is joined by Firebelly)
Musc

1x Ironblaster

1x Piggy (Kitty to you)
1x Piggy
1x Piggy

I lucked out and had great opponents that made all the games so fun it didn't really matter who was winning or losing.

1) Vampire Counts (Jerry), Dawn Attack, WIN for me, (Jerry finishes 6th)
He had Etheral Fast Cav that didnt go for the Sabretusk redirecting bait and turned out couldnt be wounded by my Leaddies, went charged the IronBlaster's rear.. what a pain!! It finally got taken care of by Firebelly. Also because of Dawn Attach deployment, his general/caster was on foot by himself, with his skeleton guard unit far away. It was easy to blast the Vamp hero off the field and then his army started crumbling haha

2) Goblins (Jind), Battle for Pass, LOSS for me (Jind finishes 3rd place)
He had this deep unit of Goblins I kept trying to whittle down with my Leadblechers, and then the Ironblaster, redirecting it with my Piggies, before finally getting it into combat with my Bulls but they were just too much. And I fell for his bait, directing hits onto his hero which had a ward save!! I should have directed hits onto the goblins! Gahhh! I had hilarious Bad Luck with Iron Blaster. It didnt get any wounds on first turn, and then on 2nd turn it mis-fired and was out of commission for next turn as well, then Turn 5 it whiffed the wounds roll again.

3) Ogres (Sam), Meeting Engagement, LOSS for me (Sam wins the Tournament!)
He had a Lv 2 Butcher, 6 bulls, 7 ironguts, 4 leadblechers. Was a very fun game pitting Ogres vs Ogres, as it gave us both ideas for our new builds haha. It was a great grind down to him having 2 blocks barely alive to my 1 block barely alive.. both our general/casters alive too.  I felt he got the edge right off the start because I had to deploy my whole army first (Meeting Engagement) my Ironblaster was on one corner because it was raised and he deployed entire army on opposite corner. In hindsight, I should have put the Ironblaster in the middle!!

It was a great day of gaming and I'm very motivated to continue painting more models so I can play 1500 points games!
Looking good and congrats on your day of fun games. Would love to see some detailed photos of your force when you have the chance!

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Sean and I finally had our first game yesterday! I brought over my MAWesome Tribe to battle his Beastmen Army.

His 1000pt Army had:
Hero, General
BSB
Horde Block of ~30 Gors w/ AHW, Full Command
2x 5 Skirmishing Gors with Bows
Razgor
Chariot

The battlefield was a simple pitched battle with one large obstacle on my left and two medium ones on my right.

TURN ONE

I go first. I creep forward with my army, sending a single kitty around both flanks.

I want to cast the 3d6 Fireball with my Firebelly, I roll 5 dice I succeed with Irrestible Force!! FIreball gets 11 hits but only 2 wound! :( My Firebelly rolls double 1's on the MisCast Table. CRUD! Large Template with S10 hit on every model! 3 Leadblechers each get a wound each at S10 then my Firebelly rolls 2 and is taken out of the game LOL!

I've lost 2 models out of 8 in that unit, they fail the PANIC test, they turn around and flee!! :P This sucks!! I was wanting to shoot with the leaddies!

My Ironblaster takes out his chariot pretty easy. Nice!

Sean's Turn.

His Gor Horde Block comes forward a bit, the other units spread out a little.

Skirmishing Gors with Bow goes after my kitty on the left flank. They miss all their shots or fail to wound. ha!

The razgor coming down middle/right, seemingly to be a support flanker now that the chariot is gone, and it doesnt worry about my kitty?

Ambushing Gors with Bows appear on the right side of table and creep towards my leadblechers. They shoot at my right flanking kitty, no wounds again ha!

Harpies stay behind the big Gor block.

TURN 2

My right kitty charges the Razgor! Leadblechers RALLY!! They reform into 3x3 and turn around to face the battle.

My left kitty just moves towards the Gor Horde Block.. It was wanting to charge the Harpies but the Gors with Bows are blocking the path.

Middle kitty goes to meet Gor Horde Block and blocks their charge path to my Bulls & act as redirector

Ironblaster moves up and to the right, and turns about, facing the Gor Horde's flank and blasts a line through it. 5 out of 7 dead.

Right Kitty wins combat and runs down the Razgor! :)

Sean's Turn

Sean charges the middle/redirector kitty with his harpies. The Block of Gors stay put.

Skirmishing Gors with Bows finally kill off the Kitty on Left.

On the right, Skirmishing Gors with Bows gets 2 wounds on my leadblechers, removing a model

TURN THREE

I combo charge Gor Horde Block with my 8x Bulls in the front, and the Ironblaster on the flank.

Leadblechers do a wheel move nearly 90 degrees so they face the annoying Gors with Bows and blasts them off the table!

Combat with Horde Gor Block.. Impact Hits from the Bulls & Ironblaster takes out about 5-6 Gors, and then Sean focuses all his attacks on my Bulls..4 wounds, I lose only 1 model. Then  my turn for attacks, 6 more Gors Dead. He loses combat and is run down my Ironblaster!

Thats the game! I win! :D I forgot to do Stomp attacks too haha oh well. I was quite thrilled how the combo charge worked out and that I won the game without a General! :D
I built some LEGO terrain for the next battle!

The MAWesome Tribe tested their mettle against Sean's Beastmen again!

The Armies & Scenario

My list was the same. He dropped his chariot, and used points to add a rank to his horde unit and  take two Tuskigor beasts. (See his original list above)

We played Meeting Engagement Scenario, with the diagonal line deployment.
His harpies and my Ironblaster rolled 1's and were reserves, but they both came into play Turn 1

He deployed his army first along the deployment line between a mountain range and a lake, away from the desert.
It'd be a tight battle with not much room with flanking. I deployed my army opposite his horde.

The Beastmen Army go first..

Game Summary

Turns 1, 2, 3

I goofed big time by deploying my Leadblechers with Firebelly right at the line, close enough for his Razgor to charge that unit right at the opening of Turn 1! :P  Razgor does 2 wounds to my Firebelly, Firebelly does FireBreath Close Combat attack and gets 2 wounds, and the Leadblechers whiff their attacks. We stick around to battle another turn thanks to my Musician.  I send in one sabretusk into combat try help kill off the Razgor. I also set up two sabretusks as redirectors in the front but Sean is prepared. Next turn, his Harpies takes care of one sabretusks and overruns into combat, while a Tuskigor charges into combat. They kill off a Leadblecher and the Razgor finishes off my Firebelly!! :( The Leadblechers finish off the Razgor but we lose combat and get run down.  My sabretusk is still alive passes panic test.

The Tuskigor and Harpies now turn right, and threaten my Ironblaster (just below the Desert)

While Sean's monsters and flyers are taking care of my Sabretusks and run down my Leadblechers. Turn 2,my Ogre Bulls unfazed by the skirmishing Gors' shooting, decide to charge the huge Gor Horde block. Impact Hits kills off 4 beastmen, combat has us losing our Champ to the General, and another Ogre to the BSB and flithy beastmen. Ogre bulls win combat just barely but they have 2 ranks left, Steadfast/Crown of Command (Redundant I know), they hold!!  Turn 3, my Bulls get flanked by a Tuskigor, and lose combat, get run down by the Tuskigor & Horde Block.

Turns 4, 5, 6

I've lost both my Leadblechers and Ogre Bulls blocks, it does not look good at all!

My last Sabretusk gets in a fierce battle with the Tuskigor and keep fighting for two turns without breaking combat! The Beastmen Horde block is between the mountain range & lake.

My Ironblaster misfiring in turn 1 didn't seem to be off to a great start. Turn Two it kills 2 of 5 skirmishing Gors with Bows, sends them running through the Desert where one dies, and they never rally.

Now Turn 4, threatened by a Tuskigor and Harpies.. it decides to charge past them into combat with the Sabretusk killing off the Tuskigor and overruns into the Horde Block's front, smashing four beastmen into bloody pulps with impact hits. The following combat has the General doing 2 wounds and the rest whiffing their attacks or getting saved by 4+ armour. I win combat and run down the Horde Block despite reroll at Ld 8!! He rolled 10 and 11 haha!

Last two turns, the Ironblaster over shoots twice and cant kill the last Tuskigor, and is harassed by a unit of skirmishing Gors with bows to no effect.

End of Game

In the end of  I had only the Ironblaster left and he had his Harpies, a single Tuskigor, and an unit of skirimishing Gors with Bows. Initially I thought it was a draw but Sean pointed out I was 200+ VP ahead for capturing the Horde's Banner & the BSB.  Both our generals VP cancelled eachother out.

So.. I won! :D My Ironblaster was definitely the MVP in this game!!
I simply love the lego scenery! Amazing and gratz on your win as well.  :D
