010 Tomb Kings vs Warriors of Tzeentch

original thread ↗

Hi guys,

This is a battle report of my second game at Sheffield Wargames club: "Steel City Wargaming". It's the first time i've used Tomb kings on a real battlefield and not just Universal Battle...and it shows!

My opponent was really sound and had a very nice list i thought.

Let me know what you think. I'm still very new to Tomb kings and this was also the first time i've ever used a special character!

Nice vid!

A few suggestions for your Tomb Kings though..

You should be moving your archers every turn. Backwards 2 inches, or to the side etc. That way when he breaks through your line, he is maybe one more turn away from charging your Heiro. You don't take movement or range penalties for your archery, so always be moving them into a safer position.

The other thing is your deployment on your Sphinx. You put him way out on the flank. Imo, a warsphinx is a front line beast. He can chew down infantry hordes. He does not need to be on the flank, he is not fast enough or weak enough. Leave the flank work to your chariots, which leaves me on my next tip.

You ran two ranks of Chariots. That is a mistake, again in my opinion. You sacrifice a lot of impact hits and attacks for +1 S on your impact hits, and a rank bonus? Pass.

Run them in units of 4x1 or 3x1 on your flanks. Also, it seemed like you didn't ever heal any chariots back or anything (maybe because of range? But again, keep your troops a little closer together)? All your spells heal very well. You can get a full chariot back every magic phase. With two units of chariots instead of 1 big unit, you can double their healing potential with D3+1 each unit instead of D3+1 on one unit.

Nice battle report, I'd love to see more! :)

**Just though of another thing. Ramhotep. Imo, he's worthless. While the combat potential he adds to TG is just phenomenal, he is way too squishy. Any general who is decent at warhammer, will target all of his attacks on Ramhotep and kill him before you ever even swing your blade. Doing so will net his combat buffs worthless.
