Dragon Ogre to Regular Ogre Bits Size Comparison

original thread ↗

Well when I first saw the new Dragon Ogre kit I was quite interested to see how well these bits could be incorporated with the Ogre kits. I was particularly keen on the spectacled helm head and even entertained ideas of some sort of amusing Dragonborn style Irongut or some such. Anyway here are some comparison size pics then for folks that may be interested in pick up some of these bits:

Ogre Heads

I suppose this was the most disappointing find for me that while many of the heads look great (all the helmed in particular) they scale really poorly compared to the proper ogre heads. Now I think you could do a unit with them but you would most likely be limited to using only heads from the Dragon Ogre kit, as unit of pin heads won't look as bad as a mixed one.

Ogre Hands/Arms

Now unlike the heads to my surprise the hands are pretty much spot on compared to the Ogre ones and much better scale wise than the Minotaur hands. With some creative slicing of upper arms I think the Dragon Ogre ones could be useful in adding some diversity to the current limited Irongut pose. Also the single handed weapons are rather nice for folks looking to for more proper weapon armed ogres over those with rocks and bits of iron attached.
Good to know. I'd wondered about the weapons. Thanks for the comparison shots.
I bought a box just for the weapons and they are awesome.

There are some shoulder plates and the like that also works.

I am thinking of starting a 40K Khorne Daemons army and may convert the Drogers to Daemon Princes.

I think the upper bodies and shoulder pads might make a nice base for some (very expensive) maneaters.  Though finding suitable legs might be problematic.  It's a shame that the heads aren't in the same scale as each other.

I think the torsos while useable would really need a strong Chaos theme or perhaps significant cloaks of greenstuff. Those scaly backs are a bit jarring and was what always turned me off to the otherwise rather nice old metal dragon ogre torso on Morg n Throg leg conversions.

Also I seem to have forgotten the proper arm scale pic in the first post so here it is:

First Row: Ogre, Dragon Ogre
Second Row: Minotaur, Blood Bowl Ogre
Third Row: Giant, 5th Edition Golgfag Ogre

The lack of shoulders for the arms might be a bit of a problem but they are pretty spot on especially with the blood bowl arms. Shoulder armor, furs, or cloaks could cover the problem though the will never be as beefy as the real ogre arms.
