Hey all I had a quick game the other day with my mate and I finally got troll guts and got it off. My mate asked me you get 3 saves now!! (Armour, parry and regan) and when he asked I was like a dear in a headlight I just didn't no :-P . So Does regen cancel out your armour save so you will get a 4+/6+? How does it work?

You still get your armor save, but will have to take the best out of regen (4+) or Parry (6+).
So you have the armour save and then regen. No Parry.

The rules for armor and ward saves are on page 43-44 of the main rulebook. Cross reference this with the Regeneration special rule found on page 74 to see how this all combines.
In 7th edition, you would indeed have gotten all 3 saves against a single wound. In 8th it works a little differently.

Mmm I never thought about parry save being an actual ward save. This basically means that trollguts is more effective on ironguts, since bulls lose their parry save. I will think about this next time.

Its not that huge of a difference. And remember that magic is never 100% going to happen.
I still say take both in your army, never one or the other.

Why not just cast it in bubble form and give it to all your units? All the cool kids are doing it these days.
There is only news. There is no good or bad.

There are times you simply have to choose between one and another. I usually field both, MMU for the win!

That too, I almost always go for the IF bubble just because.

Played my mate again last night and he wanted to know do you get parry saves against impact hits and stomps I said yes but just putting this up to clarify? Also his chimera has regen and regen carnt have a - modifier on it can it? its always 4+ or other wise stated, can only be nullified by flaming?
Snarkhunter22 Mar 2013
Nope, you can't parry impact or stomps.
Also, regen is NOT a ward save. It replaces your ward save. So the Mark of Tzeench (or other modifiers to ward and armor saves) does not change your regen save. It is also not affected by the Other Trickster's Shard. Only flaming attacks and killing ng blow/HKB can affect it.

Wildcards's Ogre achievements: 75/101 Most recent achievement: 59. Why do I bother? - lose 3 games in a row with your ogre army

Regen does not replace your ward save, you have both a regen save as well as a ward save. The only limit is you are only allowed to use one of them.
If you have a 4+regen as well as a 5+ward, you can opt to use the 5+ward (for whatever reason) instead of the regen even though it's worse and vice versa.
There is only news. There is no good or bad.

IIRC you are required to use the best save avaliable to you. So if you could take either a 5+ ward or 4+ regen you would have to take the Regen. Unless the wound ignored Regen because of Flaming or something.
You can't elect to not take a save AFAIK. The HE PG character would love to be able to do that.
