Some quick questions about using Trappers and 8th ed rules..
- When Trappers are already in combat, and charged in the front, the charging unit still takes Dangerous Terrain Test when they make it into combat, correct?
- When my opponent has an unit that pursuits into new enemy; the trappers' front with no stand & shoot reaction allowed, my opponent's unit still does Dangerous Terrain Test when they make it into combat, correct?
- While armour saves are not allowed, Ward Saves are allowed, correct?
- There is no Look-Out Sir option for Characters or Champs, correct?
Thanks!

First question. They still take tests. Being in combat has no effect on the rule.
Second question. If the overrun gets you into another combat, it counts as a charge. They will take dangerous terrain tests.
Third Question. Yes, it can be warded.
Fourth. I don't know.
The enemy of my enemy is my double enemy.

Your questions are phrased a bit odd, but I think I know where you are going "If my trappers are already in close combat, then a unit charging the Trapper's front would still take DT" That is correct, however, only if the gnoblers are in combat on their flanks. A unit charging the front of the unit would not have to take the DT if another unit blocks up the front. "If my opponent's unit overruns into the front of my Trappers, does he still take DT?" Yes as an Overrun counts as a new charge, handy for Ogres because we can inflict impact hits from Overrunning. "Although Armour saves are not allowed, Ward Saves are?" Yes. Think of it like a force field or something. "Do characters benefit from Look Out-Sir! Rolls from a DT?" No. Look Out-Sir only comes into play from templates, cannons, bolt throwers and combat.

Why wouldn't it.
Rule states: Some units of Gnoblars include Gnoblar Trappers, mean-spirited greenskin survivalists who specialise in fighting dirty. EVERY MODEL IN AN ENEMY UNIT THAT SUCCESSFULLY CHARGES THE GNOBLAR FRONT MUST TAKE A DANGEROUS TERRAIN TEST AS SOON AS THE CHARGE IS COMPLETED, to represent the various traps set in front of the unit.
Is there an FAQ? From what I read, engaged or unengaged, and no matter where the engagement is, if you charge trappers on the front and complete your charge, you take a DT test. If there is space on the front for you to complete the charge, you take the test.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah in my head, I imagined the Gnoblars having plenty space in the front for another enemy unit to charge in, or even in a clipping situation

Exactly. "Successfully Charged a unit of Gnoblers ... " To make a succesful charge, you need to have 1 model of the new unit in base contact. You also cannot wheel to avoid the unit, so you cannot make contact. Therefore, you have not succeeded in a successful charge. So no Dangerous Terrain Tests are taken.

Gotcha Brainfreezer. I think I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

It's all-right because scenarios like that require a whole re-read of EVERY SINGLE WORD in the BRB

If it is a successful charge in the front the enemy unit takes a DT test, ergo if there is room for them in the front next to another unit and they can make the charge and end up in combat they will take a DT test.
There is only news. There is no good or bad.
Ardecay14 Feb 2013
think thats 4 yessirs. as the rule states, all models in the unit take a test. therefore no look-out sirs.

Rare enough it happens, because a unit has to fill in as many attacks as possible, but then again horde gnoblers aren't an issue for this.

Digging up. How about steamtank, abomination?
They are moving in random movement phase, but it counts as charge when they "touch" enemy base. So basically they are charging. Do they roll for DT?
I understand, that mangler, and rest of "run over" unit don't test DT, as it is not charge. But steamtank and abomination?
Brainfreezer27 Apr 2013
Yes. They do under Empire FAQ "Do Steamtanks trigger effects concerning Charging when making their Random Move?" "Yes, only if the Steamtank makes it into base contact with the enemy unit."
