Templates vs Stegadon

original thread ↗

So I'm looking for a rule clarification how templates aka our cannon and stone throwers work vs the stegadon?  I see that in the FAQ that the steg counts as a ridden monster and on pg105 of the rule book it lets us know that templates hits both the monster and the rider.

Now is it just that simple as I know the Lizardmen book has its own rules to it against it?

Can someone clear this up or walk me through this as I just got two Stegadons in my face at my welcome back to WHFB game of 1500pts. :gcry:
It isn't very fair for Lizardmen players, but yes, the cannon will hit all parts of the stegadon.  You can kill everything in 1 shot.  If you're going for a competitive list than I would highly recommend it.  If it's a casual game and you're just going for fun, don't blow a hole in your opponents 400+ pt steg-wizard combo on turn 1.  The rule favors us heavily, just keep that in mind for your games.

Yeah cannons will kill it all in one shot but a stone thrower will not.

If use a stonethrower type weapon, the center hole has to be randomized between rider and mount. So for example with the Hellcannon (which fires as a stone thrower) the S10 D6 wounds will hit the stegadon on a 1-4 and the rider on a 5 - 6.

The one that is not rolled gets hit with a regular S5 single wound shot.

I didn't know that and played it that the whole model got the D6 wounds because I knew that cannons shot that way. I ended up killing an Emperor and Griffon in one shot with my Hellcannon. Poor guy didn't even know I cheated and neither did I! I since confessed though. :)

Thanks for clearing that up and I'm sure I will have more questions over time but a lot of them are already answered on the forum and that is nice.

Ya I had a very simple fun list to learn with and my buddy was worried that I would be taking mournfang so he went crazy with super slann and two stegs.  All I had was slaughtermaster, bruiser, bulls, and a few leadbelchers and it was a rough game for me.  MPV was my Slaughtermaster   :D

PS: From another thread I was doing my lore wrong but we were really doing noob hammer and not warhammer with the wild amount of mistakes we were making.
