Boozey's Fur Trappers/Hunting Party - (complete army painted photos update)

original thread ↗

Well just to share with you an army that has just been finished today but started way back in October 2011.

The idea of this diary was to show you from start to finish but I have had this on another site for the past 18 months with little interest ,so found out about this site and thought I would share this with you all. There is some WIP photos as well to show you from the start if you are into that sort of stuff.
Anyways look forward to being an active part of the community now i have found you all :)

For the impatient people who won't read through the thread as they see unpainted models ,will reverse this by hitting you with paint from the start haha..Hopefully this will generate more interest in this as well ...
Anyways glad they are finished now and looking forward to finding a game for these hungry fur covered fatties

Whole army shot

From an early age I have always wanted to own a well painted warhammer army, though never had the money/skill to do such a thing.I have since been out of the miniature scene for a very long time ,so you could almost call me a complete noob, though my passion for miniatures has never been lost. Now I wanted to start up a warhammer fantasy army ,and fell in love with the food eating, large ogres so decided to build an army of them..

The theme is a large powerful clan of ogres ,coming out of the mountains hunting for new pray and food ,not stopping for anything that gets in its way..They wear lots of animal skins ,fur to help show their hunting prowess ,and show how full their stomachs are ,as this is an important part of any ogre..There gut :)

Well in terms of models ,this is what the army is made up of

2 ogre Battallion boxes,(12 ogres, 12 ironguts, 8 Leadbelchers )
1 Irongut box              (4 ironguts)
1 sabretusk set            (2 sabretusks) Finecast
1 stonehorn                 (1 stonehorn)
2 ironblasters               (2 ironblasters)
2 slaughter/butcher       (1 Slaughtermaster,1 Butcher) Finecast
2 Mournfang                 (4 mournfang cavalry)
1 Tyrant                       (1 Tyrant ) Finecast
1 firebelly                     (1 firebelly) Finecast
1 Araby Maneater          (1 maneater) Finecast
1 Imperial Maneater       (1 maneater) Finecast
1 Paymaster maneater    (1 maneater) Finecast
1 Pirate maneater           (1 maneater) Finecast
1 Female maneater         (1 maneater) Finecast
1 ninja maneater            (1 maneater ) Finecast
1 Hunter                         (converted into a battle standard bearer) Finecast
This is everything is assembled pre paint ,based and just a few minor things to be added like green stuff fur ,bsb etc.
The ironblasters have been left in sections for ease of painting ,and the stonehorn has had a raised stone base being finished for it.

So here is some WIP where things are starting to shape up,all the clothing on the bulk of the ogres has been done.
Wasn't 100% happy with the skin of the ogres so this method has been changed a little bit
Really all that is left is the skin, details and basing/weathering
Some mig pigments will be used to make really nice rust and dust/mud effects on the bases along with snow
You will notice a shinyness to the ironblaster pulling beasts and the Stonehorn.
That will disappear with the varnishing process. It's just the glazes to add colour intensity

Anyways here is some more pics ,

Ironblasters

Stonehorn

Mournfang

This is a Work in progress Firebelly that needs a bit more touching up and highlighting to do, currently being considered if he should have a flame tattoos like the GW one.

Here are some long awaited pics which at the stage of these photos were 95% finished

They have since been varnished, they got a coat of vallejo matte through the airbrush which will take off some of the gloss from glazes etc and provide a bit of protection from the oils on our hands etc.
Also snow and bases finished along with better photos taken of them all

Stunning army - looks really awesome!

Really nice cohesive looking army; the bases tie it together well, and the theme is crisp and consistent without being overdone.

Like the polar bear mournfangs too; would be nice to see some closer pics of the finished centre-pieces (stonehorn, tyrant, ironblasters, butchers, and so on!).
Bulls have grey skin. 'Nuff said.
Very nice army! I'm in love with your skin tone, and the contrast of the polar Mourns is great! Well done!
Thanks for all the feedback ..
Haha yeah got to love a cute looking mournfang with its cute little pink nose all ready to rip off limps ..
Regarding the skin tone ,the regular troops are more of a bluey grey colour but the higher echelons of the tribe and more of a purple hue to make them stand out more .Perhaps they spent more time inside their huts with the bearded females ,while the bulls were outside in the cold turning blue..
Sorry I haven't been able to take more photos ,but will take an entire set new unit by unit and get them up tonight/tomorrow morning

Going to be working on some gnoblars for a Regiments of Renown Tourney with modified rules.
Thinking a Man eater + 12 little helpers should be fun..

Rules are basically 100 points max ,8 models minimum with 30pts minimum core.

That should provide some interesting conversion opportunities.
I'm assuming that the modified rules change the number of potential ranged weapons the group can have.
What's the Maneater going to be carrying?
I actually NEED to know your skin recipe lol those look awesome it's just the kind of tone I was trying to guess how to make :)
