Monthly Painting Challenge - February 2013

March marks my return to Ogres for painting with a "second wave." My goal is the chained conquered tribe (thank you for all the advice on technique ), Skragg, a second Gorger and the Scibor fatty butcher.

It's very hard to sift through the high volume of posts, but I'll try and keep up with some of you surrounding our ideas and how to implement them, including snow-carnage bases.

Have finished my Slaughtermaster (minus blood which I will do later with my other butcher). Fairly happy with him but the picture doesn't do him any justice!

The models are built so far and the terrain piece is nearly finished - but I will not finish Februarys challenge.

Another update! Slight change of plan on the pledge. Rather than painting 4 Mournfang riders, I have painted up a new Butcher, with a death theme!





Scultping of the gut was not brilliant, and hence does not look particularly good when painted. But still good enough from a distance.

Have also made a start on the Black Orc Maneaters and have completed 4. Pics to come when all finished.

I have completed my two Ironguts! The Champ and the Standard Bearer. I will have pictures shortly!

I had hoped to finish up my (long) drawn out Blood Bowl Orc team this month and if you asked me at the beginning of last week I would have said I had failed at that. Then... voila! I slapped some paint on them in record time this week. And they don't look too bad either? Still thinking about how to finish the details (numbers, bases, spot colors, decals?) but here is where they stand today:

Black Orcs! The metal was a bit of a happy accident.. or instinctual?


Giant Orc (Troll) and Thrower! I like the poses here a lot.

I didn't grab photos of the Lineorcs but they haven't changed much from the test models I did way back last year. Still no Goblin for the team though I will keep my eye out for a good addition. That's all for now! Off to play one of the last regular season KUBBL 3 games now. Wish me luck!

Final update for the month. Pledge complete (ish)! Having swapped the mournfang riders for the butcher and new BSB. Speaking of which:



The gaps on his banner arm have now been filled!

Have also finished the 6 Black Orc Maneaters. Very happy with these conversions, especially the drummer! 3 AHW, 2 great weapons and one normal guy.

It's the 27th today? Damn, i now know without question, that i have failed my pledge this month  there is now way i can get my sabretusks finished by tomorrow night. Time to admit i have bitten off more than i can chew this month.
Oh well, at least i know what to pledge for next month! A short month and a inhumanly large amount of work has got in the way of my painting  If i get the chance i will post up a few pic's of what i did get done.

What a failure!  Loving everone elses stuff though, some epic models out there!

Two Ironguts, a standard bearer and champ. Mostly made from Ogre bits, though with some exceptions.


Belakor's sword - and the hand attached to it - go on the Gutlord, and his cloak is made from the flag from the Greatswords. The standard bearer has two shields from the giant kit, and a massive feather from the Greatswords as well.


Also, because I'm a genius, these two guys can come apart for ease of painting! Admittedly, it makes the fur on the big lads cloak a little odd and there's a crease but I figure I can sort that out with some liquid green stuff midway through the painting.

I just got there this month.

All the work I can do on my house for now is done, just awaiting the trades to finish now before I get into painting.

I also managed to finish converting my Ironblaster last night....This took a lot longer than I planned as I painted the parts as I went and I was struggling to get motivated. I just have the Rhino and Gnoblar to paint.

Failed my pledge this month.  Basically got lazy in the second half of the month.

I have a really busy month this month doing renos on my house...so I am going to pledge:
demolish a bathroom, create a study, walk in robe and hallway

but really I hope to fit in a Ironblaster conversion this month.
