Monstrous Cavalry Comparison

original thread ↗

I'll go ahead and put this in the general section, since it concerns alot of different armies.

Bad Dice did a VERY extensive comparision of the various monstrous cavalry units in various circumstances.  A great thing to peruse.

Wonderful! I love the comparison. Especially cuz my two main armies are WoC and Ogres.... :P

Check my Gnoblog to see my Frost Tribe Ogres!
Poor Necro Knights. I always thought they were fair nasty too...

Cool to see Bull Centaurs there though. Glad that FW army is getting proper treatment.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
I'm not familiar with demons as mug as I should be. What's the main diff between skull and bloodcrushers?

Really cool study!

Blood crushers: 70 points per model, 4+/5++ save, MR1, cause fear, 2 wounds, 2 attacks at WS5, S6, I4, and 2 attacks at WS5, S5, I2, all of them with killing blow

Skullcrushers: 60 points per model, 1+ save, MR1, cause fear, 2 wounds, 3 attacks at WS5, S5, I5, and 3 attacks at WS5, S5, I2, and can take a magic banner.

Games Workshop logic... go figure.

That's quite a difference.  I didn't realise that the juggers were different.  Quite strange.

Some people have received their WoC army books and according to them, Skullcrushers are now T4 with W3. Not sure if there have been other changes to the unit, but they are without the shadow of a doubt the meanest Monstrous Cavalry in the game at the moment. Good thing they can be forced to charge from 20 inches (or is it 19?).

You have to remember that Bloodcrushers were designed in 7th edition, when the Monstrous Cavalry wasn't even in the rules. That being said, when you compare them with other Monstrous Cavalry, Bloodcrushers aren't as good as the top contenders we have at the moment, the Skullcrushers, the Mournfangs and the Demigryphs.

Especially when you add wrong stats...

Also with WoC out this month and most likely DoC next, no doubt synergy in the books will "moot out" the cost and stats.
My hood is my castle...
Bloodcrushers were made for a previous edition when Cavelry were practically an autowin if they got a charge off.
