Does anyone really know how to play Warhammer 8th ed? i mean really.

The FBs breath is Str4. 5 hits on T3 chaff will kill around 3 of them. 5 hits on T2 skinks will kill 4 of them.
Who said anything about a FB?

And, again, it means nothing unless you kill (or panic) all of them. One skink is enough to block you... and you've wasted your breath.

It's not much of a strategy. Most likely you'll just hold yourself up for a turn without him needing to bother fleeing.
Given that this is my first edition of WFB, I find that I'm actually more accurate with the rules than most long-time players.  Just this previous weekend I stumped two LONG-time veterans with the fact that Vanguard movements cannot bring you to within 12" of an enemy unit.
I think most of us have gotten over the "edition shock" for the most part but certainly those of us who have been playing the game for a long time can get stuck with edition anachronisms.

If anything the constant FAQ tweaks are the hardest thing to keep up with.  They keep making minor tweaks that either create more issues than they solve (see rescent Skaven stuff) or have huge wide ranging effects that are not really spelled out (see Fury/Slave ruling).

What always bothered my opponents in particular was unit stats changing. You've no idea how happy my TK playing friend was when we realised just what the stats of the dudes in the chariots were - he thought it was just one bloke with a spear and one with a hand weapon...
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
I only just found out that a character on a monstrous beast counts as monstrous cavarly! So my captain on peg can go in a unit of demigriphs and not get killed by cannons and what not, even though they are a different base size.
charge as fast as you can for as long as you can and dont stop for any reason

You would have to run them with at least 5 demigryph knights + the captain to get a look out sir. Thats a huge unit and is not very practical, imo.

Rather, run 2 units of 4 demigryphs each (or 3 each) and have your captain within 3 inches of both of them (that way he is near at least 5 similar troop type models). Then he gets a 4+ look out sir and you have 3 hard hitting units.

Funny I was just pondering the same thing. Does it work though? I just looked it up and I don't think it does since it has to be a unit with 5 or more rank and file...
...or you could give him a charmed shield for 5 points and or opal amulet for 15 points.

...or you could just not give a damn if he is shot at... how much is he? 130ish points?

Ahh yep youre right. Well you could always run him near a unit of 5 wide demigrpyhs. Its a little big but I think its better than putting him in the unit ranking it up, and wasting all the back row mount attacks.
