...Damn.
I'd love to see some battle reports or something, because that list looks like trash. Man must be a wizard, and congrats on what had to be a series of hard-fought battles.

Well, bear in mind that it's Swedish comp, which will tone down the opposition a fair bit as well. But yeah, that's a bit too MSU for my taste.

He... Gasp... Even has a... Gasp... Stonehorn in his list.
While I use mine regularly, I would be surprised to see it in a tournament, even more so in a win-it-all list.
Well done!

That's really interesting, I second the desire to see a battle report on this. I mainly run an MMU style list, I'll need to try making an MSU like this.

I think some threadomancy's gone on here - that list is clearly from 6th/7th! Can't see the 2x3 Yhetees or Tenderiser though... In all seriousness, the guy must really know what he's doing, takes some skill to do so well with an unconventional list like that.

I think the whole "we can't make a decent ogre list with Swedish comp" is anecdotely (is that a word?) disproved.
For those who want more info check Ben Curry's Bad dice reports (as he sponsored it) and the warhammer forum, where he posted more info on it.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Depends on what you mean by "decent"
Decent for Swedish Comp, sure.
Decent for general. hell no.
Whats with the Lvl1 with Death?

Listening to the BAd Dice podcasts for this it sounds like the main strength of the list was deployment. With all those drops it sounds like he was able to manage his opponents superbly. I love the anecdote about his keeping a rat ogre unit with a warlord out of commission the whole game with trappers and a well timed gorger. Still would love to see a turn by turn report of any of his matches though.

Isn't that a bit of an assumption? Swedish comp certainly changes a lot of the nature of the game, but I think it's safe to say a tournament-winning list is going to be 'decent' anywhere except the Ardboys finals.

Have seen similar lists used by few very skillfull player, but not with ogres. Yes, the list has several drops (the whole idea of his list is based pretty much on many deployment drops). It also has few units to deal with big CC and several units to hang in and win medium CC and common units. Playing lot of diverters is the way to win if u ask me, but I dont posses that much skill my self. This guy made a list that with he can beat everybody with diverters setting the phase and events in the game. And, the most important, it seems he build a list to deal with other players with same main idea and good skills.

Whats with the Lvl1 with Death?
He has lot of small units to face opponents small units and diverters, but with spirit leech he can take out ethereal diverters VC brings in the game. All his characters went in IG's I think, so thats why he even had 5p magic weapons.

He's going to use a Ld7 spirit leech to counter etherial chaff?
Thats a max of one model killed a turn, and most certaintly less due to the butcher's apalling Ld.

No he is using the highest leadership in the unit.
And it is mainly for the ethereal characters

I would think that he doesn't have to use spirit leech. Caress and Fate would likely be better at killing ethereals, especially ethereal characters in the front of units. I don't think I would even take the sig spell unless I rolled Aspect. Every other Death spell would be quite useful.

Spirit leech would be a good spell against spirit host. But the other spells are more dymanic and better overall..so why not lvl 1 death butcher??! By the way, he had points left for an ironfist on this guy
