Ogre Slavemasters (gnoblar upgrade)

original thread ↗

Upgrade for a gnoblar unit, giving them Ld 8 (or maybe just 7)

Ogre Slavemaster - point cost: 40
same stats as a Irongut but with BS3, Ironfist and Chaintrap as weapons (so heavy armor and shield bonus but no parry)

Special Ability:

Placed in back rank, all gnoblars must be removed before removing the Ogre Slavemaster unless attacked in 2b2

May make 1 Sniper attack using the chaintrap in close combat over the gnoblars heads, if you miss you lose one gnoblar as the chaintrap hits one of your own instead
Interesting idea, although I am not sure how useful it would be.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
It would make a pretty good conversion though.
It would almost have to only be available for Gnoblar units with more than 20 models and no Trappers upgrade, to make it balanced.
how would this effect the fear rule on the ogre ? would the unit cause fear ? and what about fear on fear ? would the gnoblars no longer be afraid of trolls and such ?
we are da executors for a reason you stand in our way ... you die hahaha

Checked the Fear rules on page 69 of the BRB.  It clearly states that:-

"At the start of each Close Combat round, a unit that is in base contact with one or more enemy models that cause Fear must take a Leadership test, before any blows are struck."

So the ogre would cause  fear as long as her is in base to base contact.

It then states in the third paragraph:-

Models that cause fear are themselves immune to Fear, and are not effected by any of this rule's effects (even if their unit fails its test, for example).  This includes characters riding Fear causing mounts, who count as causing Fear themselves. (See page 82).

This clearly shows that the ogre would not be effected by Fear but the gnoblars would still have to test for it.  The only benefit for them here would be the increase in their leadership in this case.

Hope this helps.

P.S.  I do like the concept here by the way.  :D

Could we give the Ogres long pointy sticks (like lances) or whips so they can attack? I really like the chaintrap idea, but I like the idea of a skaven giant rat pack idea too. Have the chaintrap be an upgrade that one ogre forgoes all attacks and can do the chaintrap?
They call me MR. Cthulhu! AAAAAHHHHHHH!
