THE GUTS OF LEGEND PRESENT
“THE  MAMMOTH TRIBE”

INTRODUCTION
This Gnoblogs is to present the Ogre army that I am at this time putting up and I hope with time, backbone, perseverance & dedication to be able to acquire and shape it in an army that I have for long foreseen. For now a lot of the background will be put up until I can finish converting the army. This Gnoblogs is open for discussion as although the army is already well debated its always good to ear some thoughts on how to make it better.

BACKGROUND ‘THE ANCESTORS’
A large Ogre Tribe has in the old maw story of the Ancient Giant Lands near the Mountains of Mourn been backbreaking to slavery the giants and their creatures in the named regions. It is told by the ancestor that no tribe could face them in combat and that their lands could never be taken. After the war in the sky and the huge death battle against the Giants a named Tyrant take pride to assemble many Ogres under is command and to cheat this unbeaten tribe, overcome them, and put them under obedience, is name is Gofg Tyrant of the Vale of Titans.

Before even the now named Overtyrant the ‘Tradelord Greasus Tribestealer Drakecrush Hoardmaster Goldtooth the Shockingly Obese’ was born. Gofg is father was a terrible Tyrant and had huge connection throughout the lands. By using treachery he traded with the other tribes and bought them to fight at is side against the undefeated tribe. Asking for a challenges he face the undefeated tribe with is bulls on the battlefield to next circle them with all the ogres tribes he bought and put under is command. The Tyrant of the other tribe realizing that he now had to face not one but abounding tribes on a single battlefield send is rhinox riders to go back at the village, to protect the encampment and put to safety is unseasoned kindred. None to be known that half of the rhinox riders had been bought by Gofg before the fight even started. The undefeated ogre tribe now overwhelm by number fought to their death never to be seen or named again.

The story told that after the battle Gofg and all the tyrants of the others tribes left alive could not agree on how to split the plum riches that were grounding the battlefield and in that so undergo a long lasting war between themselves. It is foreshadow also that the rinox riders bought under Gofg engage in combat the other half of the rhinox riders until both groups died in a deep canyon kill by an avalanche of boulders from the thundering sound of their fight.

This old legend is well painted on many walls of caverns surrounding the Fire Mouth within the lost Mountains of Mourn and describe a marked Ogre coming from the earth to reunite is long lost tribe. Many butchers have seen them but very few desire to talk about it for the name of the tribe has been said to be curse and none are to speak of it..

BACKGROUND “THE DEATHCHEATING NEWBORN”
Within the metal carving found upon the remaining parts of Chaos Dwarf war machines, inscription are founds and decipher an ancient story of a meager group of rhinox riders aspiring to buy some Leadbelcher cannons to the Chaos Dwarf to had exchange a newborn ogre slave for the trade to be made. It would appear that the Chaos Dwarf had foretell great vision about this newborn mark child and that they traded a huge amount of cannons to the riders. On some portrayal armor found in the same area some Chaos Dwarfs molding plate mail shown a ogre child in huge display fighting ravaging beasts within a caves. The display also present the child as being in the forefront of the Chaos Dwarf army...

·The Tyrant is on its way but I need to work is chainmail the two gnoblars and find away to show some trophies.

·The Standard Bearer is started ive use the body of the cathay maneater with the head of Skrag prophet of the great maw. Im going to cover the back of the head with a leather skin and use the Guts plates with tresor box from one of the maneater to put in its back. Will put some old giant weapon in the back & replace the cathay sword with a customize standard flag on witch we should see the head of a large mammoth. Id like to be able to put the gnoblars on the ground and in the flag somehow..

·Fallowing the story that Bardash have been bite by a ‘Things in the wood’ from the Mordheim book. Im converting a things in the woods which sould have the same color as him.. don’t know if the gnoblar should be put with it or not?

·The butcher is setup but I really need to make him special somehow.. will see !!! Im using the Skrag cauldron and some parts from a hellcannon do built a scene with him. The scene should be surrounded with spike, meat, a huge tree and many gnoblars.

·The named Carnosaur Cromgosh, is an idea I hade for a long time using the beast from the lizardmen army and making somehow a riding beast for a double of the tyrant. This is mainly for fluf and who know paint contest.. will work on it in the end. Gonna use the lance from the hunter on it and use the hunter as a Mammoth rider instead (unless the story from Jhared The red pass one day in WD or here).

·Roussac is up it’s the special bruiser from the big box will check for conversion but I really like him the way he is. Ive try the maneater with the trench coat with the maneater captain head but the arms simply don’t do it for me they seem to small in the position they are.

·I have built so far 4 Leadbelcher with 2 gnoblar per belcher. Wainting to see if I can get more fluf to put around them.

PROGRESS

·Have been working on the Tyrant and put few trophies in is back, converted a pelt, use two-three bits from the giant box that looked good. Gonna try to find few ways to make some furs for is back so it hide the skin. Vulture is set on the shoulder look good from close up, bitz was bought at the last GW Tournament and its been awhile i wanted to use it. Going to check if the pants cannot be converted in chainmail type instead of the regular look ? The main gnoblar should be put on the front, other covering the back..

·Built a Giant but after feeling the low weight from the plastic sprue ive decide before putting the last arm to simply slide some sand inside of it. Must say the weight make a nice change to it, make him more confortable to handle and feel more stable when putting it on the table surface. Gonna check to see if I can get more chain to cover him up. Will probably do the same trick for the other Giant..

·Gonna see if i can finish the Tyrant and the leadbelcher take some picture before the paint process and put them on the site. Would be fun to see something of before paint, during paint and the finish product.

·Deleted the two friendly post and reposted the first Progress this was simply to put the army list all at the same place so in the futur it would be easier for all to see the picture. Thanks for the chat btw Kile, Corai !!! Ive introduce 'Link Off / On' within the army list that way the links will be already setup to put the pictures and will fallow the background if someone is interested in knowing more about the character.

·More fluf should come out just need to do an overlook at the army list before i proceed in putting more meat around the characters. I was thinking putting a small scenario once the tyrant is done and each time he meet another character come out with a play. This way a small battle report could be done and I would test to see where the army need more power, magic item or bonus..

·Im making a double check on the points cost of the army. The tribe being mainly built to support a + - 2000pts type of game without having to redo a full list in between. Im hoping my computations will be held acceptable by the mass of the stronghold. I dint introduce the outside fluf in it like the carnosaur, rhinox or the Mammoths for barefaced reason that they are to be built essentialy for homegame skirmish and not tournaments of any kind, although the rhinox riders might get change with what will be in place from time to time. So here is the pitch of points so far put on each unit. Feel free to suggest any items or magic you think should go with the fluf of the Mammoth Tribe. 'But' please keep in mind that the army has been created for FUN first and not to be cheesy on the tabletop.

GAME 2000 PTS (- +)

TYRANT
Sword of battle, sword of might, heavy armour, gut maw, kineater, luck gnobs, x2 sword gnobs (331)

BUTCHER
Bloodcleaver, bangstick, x1 luck or tooth gnobs (185)

BRUISER
Club, ironfist, brace of handguns, heavy armour, mountaineater or deathcheater (181 or 186)

BULLS
Hand weapon, ironfist, light armor x3 (141pts)

IRONGUTS
Great weapon, heavy armour x8 or 2x4 (384pts)

LEADBELCHERS
Lead cannon, light armour x4 or 2x2 (220pts)

SCRAPLAUNCHER
Thick shaggy hide, random junk x1 (165)

SLAVEGIANTS
Manacles, chains and bad attitude x1 or x2 (175 or 350)

TOTAL: 1782-1957
+1 Standard Bearer Bulls or Ironguts

· The main battle plan of this army is to form a spear head and go directly toward the General of the other army 'or' do a frontal assault and flank the opposition with the 2 giants & scraplauncher. In the frontal assault ill be using the giants for the terror to try and pierce the front knowing that my tyrant and the iron will bash in next. Will keep my butcher & bulls behind the Iron, try to boost a max the Iron and then cover one of the side with is bangstick. Will keep my leadbelcher and the bruiser same spot then the butcher for same reason once near the battle the lead & bruiser will cover one side and the bruiser will shoot his brace guns to give me a know distance before the Lead start shooting. Will use the scrap to lauch at any target in front of the tyrant and protect him the best it can. In the flank assault ill use the tyrant in the middle with the iron protected by each flank with the Lead split in 2 group and use the butcher & bulls to boost the iron before the fight to help the tyrant bashing forces. The giants and the scrap will flank and create a huge diversion hoping to make some kills at the same time or to create a flee of units toward the center to bug things down.

Conversion Tyrant; still need to finish is back with fur and hade some bone fluf to the weapons before i can start the painting process. Goal is to hade some skull and create a large fur blanket on is back. Will gather the image when finish, put them on another site so they can be view in larger picture, and, link them back to the first post.

Edit: (Picture remove)
he seems quite cool i like the base skin tone but whats that on his back
my twin gnobler pets are called itchy and scratchy
no expanation needed
Looing good, I'm looking forward to seeing the fully painted version. I'm also alittle curious about what that is on his back, and how you made it. A shot in the dark I'd say grey back pelt?

thanks
Corai

The skin and most of the the back area will be cover by green stuff to look like the Greyback Pelt starting from the shoulder and leaning down toward the ground. I wanted to include it so if at one time i decided to use the magic item I could do it (-1 to be hit). Just need to find more reference on how to make it look good... Ive throw a barel in the back and use metal blitz from fur pelt of Middenheim soldier to create the arms of the beast slain. The gnoblar hunter that look like a coyote should end up being right underneath it to cover the Tyrant back.

Tks for the interest,
B.

(Conversion Tyrant); Finish, at least for now... will paint him & paint the two gnoblar than put them all together. Change the back for a wolf pelt instead of a Greyback pelt. (Standard Bearer); Converting, still on the look for the right banner to put on him, need rope on top of backpack. (Butcher); Converting, bangstick to do and meat to hade all over the belt in the back and on the bag. (Cauldron); Converting, Cauldron on one side & blood carnage on the other side.. mainly to make it look like the butcher is at work. (Giant); Converting, need to hade some chain to hands and feet and a huge backpack that look like a heavy load. (Leadbelcher); Converting, this unit as been put on the side I keep it for fun looking conversion only. The goal is to put at least 3 Gnoblar per Leadbelcher. (Scaplauncher); Converting, Thats gonna be tricky... 2 rhinox with a Choas Dwarf Cannon... with 60 Gnoblars on the run. Dont ask im still working the plan !!! (Ironguts & Bulls); Converting, each one of them should have different position ??? (Others); - all over the table -

Edit: Photo up and running, will try to keep same size..
looking great, nice to see pics of your characters. They all look great but I think the standard bearer stands out as the most unique and original. I also love the ledbelcher with the gnoblar spotter, genius!
