We have seen how good Chaos has become but who do you think will be the next big table top rumbler?
Current rumours have the releases as Dark Angels in January, Daemons for both systems, then either eldar or tau.

I'm okay with daemons where they are because it means theyll hopefully become more balanced in Fantasy, but Tau or Eldar should be before DAs

Personally, I think 6th did the Tau a favour, in fact many favours so I feel they can wait a while for theirs. I don't think Dark Angels need an update, they're very similar to Space Marines and they're fine.
Black Templars will probably the last to be updated, seen as their player base is really low. But GW could turn that around and make them broken.
Eldar need an update as they're losing their foothold in competitive play.
Orks have fallen off the competitive bandwagon miles back, 6th edition near-screwed their competitive units.
I think Daemons are fine in fantasy, but pretty crap in 40k.
Orks are fine, IMO.

Yeah, orks are fine. Their shooting got insanely buffed, and they were the better choice in 5th anyway.

Not sure how Nob Bikerz got nerfed in 6th... in fact, they're anything but now.  You need S10 to put them down, and with 50/50 games being night fight they have darn near a 2+ cover save on their charge in.  You have one round, then it's lights out.

Lootas only got better with vehicles going down due to glancing hits, and they're a definitive answer to flyers since each gets D3 S7 shots..  Yeah, Orks need nothing.

Daemons sit fairly pretty thanks to Screamer and Flamer updates, not to mention any heavy swooping list
Eldar could seriously use an update, although I still find them to be more competitive then some other armies with 5th edition books.
Tau are in need of an update, the FAQ for Target Locks coming back and Disruption pods being useful again doesn't stop the fact that they are FORCED to take full battlesuits and have no real answer to CC or to Psychic powers without allies
Dark Angels / Black Templars I'm sorry to say could easily be absorbed into the Space Marine book (Even though DA will get their own update again).  Deathwing still works fairly well in my opinion, and a mix of Deathwing and Ravenwing can perform very well.  As for Black Templars... well, I'm not holding my breath.

Overall I wish Tau would get an update, but I'm not sure it's fair since they had two updates almost back to back.  Eldar I have heard have been under construction for quite some time, but it will be a Phil Kelly book... so don't look for it being too broken.  Daemons could be cool to see too.. but I think they do fairly well.
Nob bikers are unquestionably good, but for 45 points naked on bikes each, they cost an a large chunck of your force points. Plus many old tactics with Orks are gone now, due to Outflank, Waagh! and focus fire. I think daemons need more emphasis on shooting in 40k, help the take down flyers and heavy tanks instead of cmbat. I feel thye got nerfed with having to wait a turn to charge coming in, then getting shot at again in overwatch.
Tau are in need of an update, but if GW actually ammended some of their "shifty" rules then they can be ok. Of course they are in need of a few new units.
DA and BT should be combined into one massive Space Marine codex but with restrictions like:
"Dark Angel Marines may not be taken with a Hq of their army like a Grandmaster" etc. Or "You may not take Black Templar models in a Space Marine army" or something.
Shame on you Brainfreezer.  You left the single most left-behind, forgotten, nerfed, and all-around abused army off of your poll.  The honor (if that's what it is) of who needs a new book the most goes to....

Sisters of Battle.

Hands down, no arguement.  Bad enough having the oldest book out there, GW had to give them a horrible joke of a White Dwarf update that completely removed any benefits they had, as well as negating alot of the SoB armies actually out there (I know mine sure isn't playable with the new rules).  The only remotely viable build for them now involves taking TWO special characters.
Plastic sisters of battle would really make me think very hard about getting the Nuns with guns army.

8th Edition Old book Win Rate 3-0-0

While certainly a number of armies are very worthy of updates, my vote is for Eldar. They are a classic, core army in 40k and should be one of the first on the list.

Good point. Ok, I'l add them on to it but of course this will end up wonky results.
SOB should be tied into those other "brother" armies like Whitch hunters and Daemonhunters. Maybe an Inquisitorial Forces book? I'd probably play that, if they brought out new models of course  :|
Yeah, I was a little grumpy that they rolled ALL the inquisition forces into the GK book.  Of course, straight GK lists are pretty fragile if you hit them right.  I think Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, and Inquisition should all have been separate books, with eachother as Battle Brother allies.
Nah, I think having them all in the GK book is fine, but you don't call the book Grey Knights, you call it Codex: Inquisition and make it like a tome.  They blew it with the Inquisition to be honest.  I really wanted to field the all Inquisition army, but I don't want to take Corteaz (Because I hate named Characters).  Sister's got completely crapped on, and to not even give them any new models or make them plastic was stupid.  The GK book was done completely wrong in that regard, and totally blew up the chance of nice inquisition armies.  Sad really.

So GW hates their "Emperor's Followers". I would like to see an all Inquisition book really. They would allow players to play as the "specialist" side of the Empire. Like Ordo Xenos, Ordo Hereticus etc. I mean, the GK codex was a huge disaster, with unfair rules, and lack of models and rolling them all into one codex.
I agree with the "Tome" idea. They're all differnt armies but they are considdered Battle Brothers. That way, we can use the cooler side of the Empire instead of cheesy knights and expendable army men.
I definitely can't call the GK book a disaster, and the accusation of unfair rules is even more ridiculous.  I've found most of those kinds of complaints to come from people who just don't want to adjust their favorite tactics.  The GK book has several MAJOR weaknesses, especially in 6th ed.  I've never had an issue beating GK, especially those silly Purifier or Drago armies.

I understand the complaint about not wanting to take a special character, but Coteaz is A.) cheap as hell, and B.) isn't really restricting your HQs now that you can double force-org.  Plus the Inq warbands are so mutable that that entry alone lets you field an awesome, well-rounded army.  Just call Coteaz something else.

I've recently taken to running two Warbands with the following build, with Coteaz around to make them troops.  I take 2 naked Acolytes, 3 Acolytes in power armor with plasma rifles (or melta guns), 2 Crusaders, and a Jokearo Weapon smith, in a Chimera.  Occasionally I drop the Crusaders for 3 servitors with plasma cannons, and a cheap Inquisitor to avoid mind lock.  The squad comes in around 200ish points, and is extremely durable, with a huge amount of fire power.  It's especially awesome when the Jokearo grants them +1 to their armor-saves.  Suddenly you have mini-terminators with plasma rifles.

My Inquisition army would disagree.
The only time you'll be fielding an army that incorporates all three branches is in Apocolypse sized games, so the FoC isn't really a problem.

Looking at my list for a 5000 Inquisitorial army, it seems to be mostly SoBs for some reason, with IG ad GKs filling in roles that the Sister's can't. This is probably the reason they didn't make Codex: Inquisition. It lacks a gameplay theme. GKs do small, elite mid-range/CC killyness, IG do long range horde shootyness and SoBs do anti-psyker, highly specialized units. Having them all in one book just makes it a mash of everything and would lack a coherant play style.

So you don't think that unit (which my local club faces all the time) is broken? That unit alone is a kick-ass choice. I have played the purifier list but they're simple to beat, but Inquisition lists (and SM battle brothers) is the hardest.
Sure, it's a good unit, but there are plenty that are better *cough grey hunters cough*.  I'm paying 200-odd points for 3 dudes in power armor, 3 BS3 plasma rifles, 2 ablative wounds, 1 variable heavy weapon, a light transport, and a random roll on a bonus table.  It's a fair unit with some decent punch for a reasonable investment in points, which is what any unit should be.

It's far and away from the single worst (ie, most broken) unit in the game (The Tervigon, IMO).

BTW, GK have NO battle-brothers.
Well you know the second best form of alliance.

You'd hate my 4-tervigon, all gaunt list then.

I don't mind tervigaunt lists. Infact, I find them very frail against high armoured armies.
My Crimson fists made mince of some guy who had 4 tervigons, and flamed countless gaunts out of the way.
Divination really wrecks them IMO. And Pyromancy, but thunderfire cannons just wreck gaunts.

You, Sir, need to fill out an organ-donor card and go play in traffic, because it's the only good you'll ever do in life.

The epi+ death guard combo would eat this list alive.
The tally would be at 20+ by turn 2. Now all weapons ignore armour saves. Wound on 2+

Add in in blight grenades,  and nugrel rot and you got your self a bad day.
until they FAQ that.  Seriously, there are so many cool things you can do with the new Chaos book (I've only lost 1 in 6 games so far), and you choose that cheese-stick-rules-loophole?  I'm surprised Tau are leading since in my experience they beat-face in 6th.
Epidemius's interaction with Plague Marines is in no way a loophole. It was perhaps... unforseen that allies would be so readily available in the future, but it very clearly specifies ALL friends and foes that follow Nurgle. Plague Marines were intended targets from the start.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Yup, if a Nurgle Daemon army was facing a Plague Marine army in 5th edition the Talley would definitly have effected the Plague Marines. Why would it work if the Plague Marines are the enemy and not when they are Battle Brother allies?

I don't use the loophole I have seen it to get effect.  I am BA player.  Sense the Book 1 was release I have slowly built up a pre-Hersey DG force.

Tau in 6 are doing well.

But I say nids need a boost, they have no real soild AA. As far as space elfs, they do need a update.
Sob can't say I see them  only in friendly matches, they just need burned and started a new.
