First tournament is 5 games in 2 days. ETC-rules more or less. The tournament is held at the first weekend after the neweyar.

The second tournament is held at the end of february 2013 and lasts one day. Three games for each participant. First scenario is battleline with foggy, cant-see-through but can move in and out -terrain :D Story behind it is that there has just been a furios battle and the field is all dust, smoke and ruins. Second scenario is dawn attack. Before deploying scouts, both players must roll dice. Lower score first re-deployes D3 enemy units and after that winner of dice roll does the same thing to his opponent. The third scenario is pure battleline.

My list is a bit all comers, but few advises are needed. (LIST EDITED 01.01.2013)

SM and BSB go with IG's. Mayby firebelly too, or with bulls. Firebelly is purely there to deal with regeneration and ethereals. Only fear I have with my character's gear, is if I will face that freaking vampire lord  After some test games, the plan is pretty much following: the bigger MFC unit takes either flank and hits the enemy hard. The smaller MFC unit supports it. IG's with characters are the main hammer and TT stays close to support and give the essential ASL aura. Bulls are deployed near IG's and TT to support them and cover flank. Gorger, tusks, and IB are used just like 99% of players here would use them :D

I tend play too carefullu and advance too slow in the first two turns. I like the little shooting I have with TT and IB, but gotta keep the focus on keeping TT enough close IG's. SM is build for armys general purposes. Regeneration and +1T are the spells I need.

I will need to comfirm this list in two days to the tournament organizer. So, final guestions: should I take champions on bigger MFC and IG's, by taking away musicians from smaller MFC and bulls? Should I have more magical and flaming attacks and how to include those? How to spend those two remaining points in total? Would it be wise to remove total 35 points and give firebelly lvl 2?

I know I'm sounding like a noob, but what is/are comps??
Also, why take so much Bulls??? Why not take smaller units?? or some guts?
Oh, sorry. By comps I mean combinations of rules :D
I could play smaller unit of bulls and 8-9 IG's, but want to take horde of bulls with my characters. Easy come, easy go.

Hmmmm... If I was going up against your army in the second scenerio, my strategy would be to get your mournfang and leadies in one corner, and your huge horde with characters in the other corner, and then try to pick off a mournfag to cause a panic train....

With that in mind, I think scouting maneaters with pistols would be more versatile than leadies. I'd make a unit of 6 with pistols or brace of pistols.

And I would consider dropping the TT in favor of a second ironblaster and a firebelly...
I could proxy more IG's of bulls. Then I would get LD banner in too. I have no ME's models, neither do I have another iron blaster :( Firebelly though, is something I would see in this list. Dropping TT is just "no go" for now :D

The panic train you mentioned is possible scenario, but hoping to win that roll of, or be able to run em in cover untill I get some magic or shooting going.

If I would drop TT, I would take a gorger and a firebelly in. Mayby I could borrow second iron blaster from a player I know, but I rather play purely my own army...superstitious :D Should BSB take anyway biting blade and charmed/enchanted shield to gain magical attacks?

If you wanted to keep the thundertusk and add a firebelly, how about taking away 2 leadies, an ogre, and talisman of preservation, and that should be about the cost of a firebelly. With the slaughtermaster ability to get wounds back and cast trollguts, I find that ward save to be not as valuable on him. And 6 leadies still packs a punch...

That seems logical choice.
If keeping 8 leadies, I should mayby take em as a two units of four, but that increases cost by 10p and makes me one more deployment choice..
Just finished painting and sculpting my TT and like it even more  :D

Be careful if you are going with 2 units of 4. One dead leadie = panic train....
2x4 or 8 leadies comes down to this:
Two units of chaff down or 1 in earlier rounds.
And 8 leadbelchers are as great as 2x4 at shooting bigger units, but are much better in combat and actually can win combats

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Ogre achievements: 41/101

Got point there.

I prefer my unit of 8 leads, as oppose to two units of 4.

I usually lose a lead or two from opposing range, and when they get into combat they blow if they only have 3 ogres in the unit! :)

Its not worth being able to shoot multiple targets.

I changed my list above a bit. I have put there 2 options to choose my chracters gear from. Do you prefer option 1 or 2? Or something else. If I would drop unit of 2 MFC, firebelly (or just level from him) andsome magic items, I could get in 6-8 leadies. Now the list is some 30 points short. Dropping level from Firebelly, bellower from unit of 2 MFC and 5p magic item from bsb would be enough for a gorger. This would be my personal choise. How would you use the remaining few points?

I'm also thinking of participating in a tournament a week after new year. Tournament lasts 2 days and uses ETC rules.

30 pts short I would be tempted just to throw in a roadblock of 10 gnoblars.  At the very least it gives you an extra deployment drop and it means you don't lower the chances of flaming sword of rhuin on the firebelly....

Well right now its 40p short. I would take even gnoblars :D if I had any. One more bull and something else seems the best choise so far, if I want to keep the list as it is.

If I participate in that early ETC-rules using tournament, I must do two core units (because of 450p is max unit size). Mayby one 450p unit of IG's with banner of discipline and characters and one unit of bulls.

What's the list on at the moment?

The one at the beginning of this topic.

Okay so you have 40 points, how about

-  Great Weapon on Firebelly
- Opal Amulet (or equiv)
- LO Gnoblar (you have a big enough unit)

+1 Mournfang Cav

Makes that unit a bit scarier

Failing that try it as it is and see what works and what doesn't!

+1 MFC would be great, but I have only 6 models :( I would like to make room for that gorger as I should make two core units instead of one. That way my list works also with ETC rules.

I made my own choises ( :D ) with the list and decided to try the one now at the top of this topic. Only thinking of taking giantbreaker from SM and giving him the other trickster's shard and dragonhelm. Bsb would then get ironcurse icon and luckstone.

The list is also great (for me) when it comes to painting :D Only MFC and IB to paint. Everything else is ready. Going to play both tournaments in january and febuary with this list.

Sounds like a grand plan!  Make sure to post up some pics when it's painted  :P

I did add a poll to this topic. Please vote :)

If only other gets bellower, should it be the bulls or the two MFc's? Or should I use the 10p to give firebelly a great weapon? I have planned to drop the banner of discipline and give the unit flaming attacks. All characters go with IG's, so I can use BSB LD9 for tests. Correct me if Im wrong.

Can a slaughtermaster take the giantbreaker name? I thought only tyrants, bruisers, and hunters can....

DANG! So it is...to hell with that poll.
So this is the way to read CAREFULLY armybook :D

Now its up to should I make my SM CC/challenge or magic oriented? Please vote :)

Personally I like keeping Characters quite cheap.

My Slaughtermaster generally rocks up with:

  • Dispel Scroll & Blade of Striking
  • Dispel Scroll & Talisman of Preservation

If I have points in the list I'll add things like Rockeye & Ironcurse icon in as appropriate.
