Ogres vs skaven: horde, mmu, other?

uh, the point is that you don't get to overrun after they blow up.  You're stuck where you hit them.  You are right though, my opponent had 4 blocks of 20-man slaves.  It actually worked to my advantage, since it completely clogged up his right flank as handily as a bunch of impassible terrain.

Yeah, a 20 pack with shields and full command ends up being like 70 points and stands a really good chance of surviving to pop against some of the most ridiculous death blender units out there.  It was a dumb ruling that makes the best chaffe units in the game even better.  I should know, I was abusing Furies and solo fiends before that obnoxious ruling.

If you kill them all in combat, you do get to overrun. A unit of 4 Mournfangs that hit on 3+ (re-rolling 1's), and wound on 2+ or 3+ (re-rolling 1's), and get 4D3 Impact Hits and 4 Stomps are more than capable of killing 20 Slaves in one round of combat.

Four will, but I think expecting to get four into combat intact against Skaven is pretty wishful thinking.

Well, you DID take out the WLC with your Iblasters right?

I used to run a unit of Mournfang with the Dragonhide Banner, but of late I've been running a unit of 6 maneaters with stubborn and poison, AHW in the front rank, with the banner, along with a level 2 Maw butcher. Very effective unit that absolutely minced skaven recently when I played them.

Turn one, one IB was dedicated to assisting my MEs kill his only Abomb, and the other IB misffired (rolling a 6, fortunately). 

Honestly, just about the only thing that saved me was his unfamiliarity with WLCs; usually he goes double Abomb and a 'Wheel.  His first round shots overshot my units.  His second round shots were spot on and vaporized a total of 9 whole ogres.
