Opinions on a Random-based O&G army

original thread ↗

I'm not looking for help with a list, otherwise this would go into the armies section.

What I'm asking is how would you feel if you showed up for a game and saw just a mass of fanatic vehicles, pump wagons, manglers, and squig-hoppers sitting across from you?  Would you laugh at the ridiculousness of it?  Get angry and the random, unstructured aspects behind it?

The issue is that I have 160+ night goblins, and not much idea of what to do with them.

I was pulling the Rhinox out from my old Scrap Launchers (with the new T5, time to make some Rhinox riders :D), and was looking at the rest of the 'launcher trying to think what to do with it.  I finally hit on a design for a Rube-Goldberg-style goblin-powered mecha/walker.  About the only thing it could proxy as would be a pump wagon, and I DO have 3 of the old metal scrap launchers.  I own one mangler and can scratch build another very easily, and scratch building squig-hoppers to flesh out my initial set also isn't much of an issue either.

I'm just curious how it would be received.
My friend did that aswell. He had an orc shaman, 3 pump wagons (or so) a mangler squig, 3 squig hoppers, 3 fanatics, and some goblins. Ge played 4 games and won 3, lost in his 4th because I was his opponent and made his wizard stomp his own guys.
He said to me the list was very fun and some people laughed and others criticised it but he didn't care because he had so much fun.
It's right up there with an all Snotling/Gnoblar/insignificant being army.  They're an awesome spectacle to see and go up against.  I wish there was more of this in 40k since I get to play that more often.

Anyone who gets angry because their opponent didn't structure their army as a hyper efficient synergised killing machine then they deserve to be punched...in the face...MANY times.

"Raaaghhhhhh how could you build a fun inefficient list without my permission?"

Seriously. I wouldn't worry about THAT.

I would be pleasantly surprised if someone plonked that in front of me and would look forward to a good fun game with someone who obviously is not a powergaming ahole.
Great weapons make Great weapons.
NEVER YIELD!
If someone criticizes an army like that just use the age old fool-proof excuse when the tournament organisers ask you to leave:

"What was I suppose to do?
So I hit him...
In the face...
With a chair...
If not me it would have been someone else." :D
There is only news.  There is no good or bad.

Ha ha ha...

I agree with your post young man, it was spot on!
My hood is my castle...
It can be a lot of fun. It can also be a little frustrating if taken to absolute extremes, like you're trying to eat a pineapple and all you have is a pair of chopsticks. More of an obstacle course than an army. I guess after about 15 fanatics it gets a wee bit annoying as you can't really go near the enemy at all...

I've seen several variations on this sort of army. It's kind of rock/paper/scissors if the enemy has a lot of chaff they can probably deal with you easily but it absolutely wrecks some armies especially elite ones with little shooting.

I remember a couple of guys from a while back who thought that armies consisting of nothing more than large Night Goblin blocks with full Fanatics were hilarious. But this sort of stuff:

3 pump wagons (or so) a mangler squig, 3 squig hoppers, 3 fanatics, and some goblins.

Is awesome.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
I played someone who had six or seven small units of NG full of fanatics plus a couple of manglers, two giants and an arachranock. It was a weird game, my poor mournfang were just sitting on their baseline completely unable to go near the enemy at all until all the fanatics were out.
Here's my proposed list:http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=25847.0;topicseen

The only reason I'm even a little concerned about reactions is because I already get alot of guff in 40k for running an all-bird guard list.  Getting cries of "Cheese!" and "WAAC!" (from spectators, not just some opponents) gets a little wearing, especially when it's complete bulls**t; that particular army is an absolute pain in the a** to win with.  40k has me a little fatigued, so I've been looking for some good old random fun.  And the proposed list is so random that I think it's impossible to approach a game using it with any kind of seriousness.
