SkyTitans of Null

Just got me an Ogre army. After painting mountains of Dwarfs this something completely different and fun to start with. Hereby I present you the first of many: Tyrant of my tribe.

Spent a lot of time experimenting with skin color and gettting a theme, but here is the result (I want to end up a Tibet-style army: bright colored pants, yellowish skin, lots of brass, that kind of stuff).

A promising start, looking forward to the rest.

Some progress! I'm busy painting a maneater paymaster and 3 leadbelchers. The skin is progressing quite quick actually and the guns I've now started with the oxidation (in stead applying it at the end as I did with the tyrant, I actually thought of it too late in painting the tyrant). I have my color scheme more and more perfected, so painting starts to be more of a flow. And is that an old scrap launcher I see before thee: yes it is, started on the wood there!

lang ago since the last post but here is my finished scraplauncher! I'm chuffed with the model itself and how it turned out. A good eyecatcher on the battle field. I'm playing more with a scraplauncher than the canon and I'm using this model for the canon as well since it looks that much better

since this weekend I finished 2 mournfangs as well, they deserve a place here of course.

I have some decent regular ogres as well put they are painted when I bought them so no work of mine. I have plans to redo them so they fit in with my snow theme and skin color theme. You have to wait for these for now.

Leadbelchers I also have a bunch of and 3 of them have been repainted as you can see below. The army is growing rapidly with a stonehorn under way.

Actually been quite busy painting them ogres. At the moment just finished a firebelly. I will make some more pics to show the current status of my army, it is slowly getting some momentum.
The picture of the firebelly is already outdated, since some snow has been added to the base. He will feature again in its finished form on this gnoblog!

Yep quite pleased with the obsidian as well. I'm making it sort of a theme through out the army. I'm also busy with a stonehorn. ANd you've guessed it: I'm doing the horns (stone parts) obsidian style. Not sure how it will play out since it is a much larger surface then the hammer from the firebelly, but I'm having a go. I'm doing some gems on the horns as well, so he will be all shiny

since you are awaiting the pimped out stonehorn, without further ado a work in progress but nonetheless less finished stonehorn on its base. I'm still working on the sadle and the rider with its bloodvulture but the beast is done!


I must say the shiny obsidian effect is working here, so I'm very pleased with this. The rider is the hunter model with the bloodvulture and he is coming along very nice I must say. That will be the cliffhanger for my next post I suppose

I love the obsidian black and I love the teeth, they bring so nice contrast to the model. And look at all those "gems", very lovely. And the base is of course looking very cool and dynamic! Really waiting for the hunter now ^^

You Sir just earned a gnoblar for yourself by giving me very inspiring morning full of awe. And just before my exam about SOA/RESTful technologies, I have a feeling that this exam is going well now.

Your Stonehorn is just superb! I love the obsidian on the Horns and the bling is a very nice touch!

The Christmas holidays were ideal to complete the stonehorn. You've seen its first appearance with the obsidian horns, and now it has a rider and its base is done and it is completely finishes. It took me a while to complete this model. It is actually the first of one of the really big new models of the GW rangen I've painted. All in all fun but takes time when combining with multiple painting projects. Maybe the next time it should get more focus. Anyway her he is! And now on to painting more ogres!

That stonehorn is looking great, nice job. The obsidian look on the horns really makes this guy stand out, brilliant work mate.

Just ordered the Ogre Maneater Ninja style. The rest of my maneaters are all old school metal ones, but the ninja Ogre is hard to find for a decent price. So I just ordered it from GW in its finecast version. Let's see what turns up and if it doesn't neet to much touching up and removing flash. Not too happy on finecast stuff, but sometimes you get a good cast.
I didn't find many ninja Ogres on the forum, so any of you out there with one, I'd like to see one! Any finecast experiences with Ogres here as well?

it's been a while and I have been painting a lot actually. Not only Ogre related but still lots more Ogres got their warpaint. Since my last post was on the Ninja maneater he deserves the right to be up next over here.
I will follow up with some posts on how the army is growing and growing (the start of this army was already a good deal but recently I got a lot more ogre related stuff for a friends price)!

I'd like to continue with my maneaters. I almost always have a maneater model project under the brush since they are cool to work with, can be nice one-off paint scheme models and in short always fun to do. A variety of the maneaters have come buy and I wanted to show these next in my ever growing Ogre army.


So up next the ninja maneater. Love the ninja gnoblar here, maybe even better then the maneater himself  This gnob takes himself so serious!

To continu with maneaters, I also finished the arabian one. When painting up more and more maneaters I got in a mode where I wanted to collect more and more of them. Make them up in a nice big unit that is really a motly crew!

With the growing unit of maneaters in mind I followed up with a simple conversion of an Ogre, giving him the Giants club and a big crosbow on his back, making him somewhat my Detretius (Discworld) of my Ogre Maneaters:


Putting some of the maneaters and the firebelly together, they make up a nice view. The one up front here is also a conversion and is representing the gladiator Ogre maneater. He walks on a wooden leg and is covered in chain mail, metal jaw and loads of metal everywhere. I cave him the stonehorn shield with the patches of dragonhide and some brutal weapons to top it of. He's almost jaws as in the James Bond movie now I come to think of it.

Now it's hunter time. I'm building an army list that includes a hunter/ The model was lying around a long time and just had to give him some paint. This is the almost finished model. He is now already stuck to a base with the snow drying. He will be joining some kitty's in one of the next battles for my Ogres!

Looks great!! I love the highlights and details you have worked in there. Your color palette is great too... looks very much like a hunter.

pledged to finish the hunter this month, and I did it! He is based, has his feet in the snow and ready for action! Very much lik the look of him. In keeping with living alone in the mountains, lots of furs and stuff. He looks like a nice warm ogre
After pondering a long time on the "lion" skin "cloack" I made it stripy inkeeping with my sabretusks he will be running with in battle.

The firebelly and stonehorn really are incredible. To be fair everything is but those two in particular really stand out especially because they are two of my favourite ogre models.

The Ogre painting spree continued with 2 extra leadbelchers. I am just realizing this gnoblog is full of individual Ogres and no army shot yet. That will be one of my pledges for next month. I will draw out the Ogres and set em up nicely (maybe even pull out the old light box) and make some nice groupshots. Curious to see if all these Ogres fit together nicely or if they are too much of a bunch of individuals

thanks for the gnob! Painting the skin took me a while to get it "right". I was looking back at some of the first Ogres I've painted and they were no where near as "smooth" as these fellows!

Really like the way these guys are going. your painting is really solid and clean and I can see the attention to some of the details, so great work there...please keep it up and keep posting pictures of your progress. Very nice work.
