I Don´t have my book with me, so just a quick question:
Can I have two units of mournfang cavalry with a magic banner in each?
If not, do you guys always go with the dragonhide banner or is the banner of eternal flame a option? I ran into a block of 8 crypt horrors in the last game at last weekends tournament, and they where really hard to kill of due to 4+ regeneration.

only one unit.
I don't use a banner. I use the unit as a "throw it in as many enemies as possible"-unit. Flaming is nice against regeneration. Dragon hide banner is not needed against most unit apart from the real hard units

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Not entirely true because of the 2+ save on the unit when/if you charge.
However, most people I play against who face Ogres knows this unit has it so I alter the banner to Ironguts or maneaters when I run a tyrant and put the discipline banner on the fangs.

I don't use a banner on my mournfangs myself. I always run them in units of 2 and I crash them into S3 T3 enemy units.
My mournfangs are my grinders, when I need a killer unit I'll use my ME or IG (and maybe give them the dragonhide banner).
To the OP, One 1 unit of mournfangs may carry a magical banner.
There is only news. There is no good or bad.

I do exactly the same thing. People see the Dragonhide Banner on my model and are like AHA! while I snigger because it's on my Ironguts hehe. I rarely put a banner on my MFC but when I do it's either the Banner of Swiftness or DHB for the re-rolls and breath. I've yet to try the flaming banner but then again I rarely come up against regen.
My regular opponents are VC's, Daemons, WE's and WoC so it's ward saves or nothing most of the time. I've found that against WE's the flaming banner is quite useful against a block of Treekin or a Treeman but then again why bother when we can take a Firebelly? If the WE's come out my Ogre's stay at home in favour of my Tomb Kings. The SSC is a Treeman sniper I swear. Last game I landed 2 on his head in turn 1, both of which hit, wounded and rolled double 6's for wounds.... 24 wounds in total.... nice! What made my oppoent cry was his complete inability to save himself as no armour or ward save were allowed due to magical S9 attacks, the flaming attacks part was just overkill... funny though!

Mournfang are my secondary unit. My gutstar kills all the toughest stuff and my MF kill the rest so the DHB is overkill. I don't take a magic banner on them.

I almost always use the DHB on my Mournfangs. It ensures they destroy what they charge. I think of it like Invincibility vs Str3 on the charge.
Its best on them because they get the most benifit out of all its rerolls. They have the best armor and best to wound roll combinations making the banner have a greater effect. Unlike IGs that only benifit from the reroll 1s to hit and wound.
Although I did use the +1M banner once. It was hilarious.

IG's do benefit from the re-rolling of 1's for armour saves but only if the oncoming attacks are S4 or lower, they can still re-roll any 1's it's just MFC's armour makes the DHB more effective on them rather than any other unit in the army. I've had a good couple of battles with 10 IG's, M + SB & DHB as my main core block.

Maybe someone might like to know, with the Dragonhide Banner, Heavy Armor and Ironfist, Mounrfangs against S3 WS3 troops would suffer 1 wound for every 259 attacks rolled, 777 to kill a single Mournfang on the charge.
Without the banner, assuming the same scenario, it would only take 43 attacks to cause 1 wound, 126 to kill a Mournfang. It would follow that this is the situation in round 2 of combat with the banner.
Those numbers fall quickly with any increase in strength. The way the math works, Mournfang are tougher per point spent than ogres on anything S4 and below - mostly due to this banner. This is of course, only on the charge.
That's only the defensive side of it! Rerolling 1's on impact, mount, ogre, and stomps is invaluable. It has the breath weapon to boot - mostly useful if you feel that you won't break the target on round 1.
Food for thought. The points of its usefulness on IG or bulls is only offensively and adds little to no survivability.
4 Mournfang throw out ~6 (typically more with 10+ charge due to swiftstride) S5 impact, 16 S5 mount attacks, 12 S4 rider attacks, and 4 S5 stomps (38+ attacks in all, most S5).
8 IG throw 4 S5-6 impact, 24 S6 attacks, (assuming they all survive or step up since ASL) and then 4 S4 stomps (32 attacks in all, most S6, ASL). These IG will also cost much more than the MFC.
I don't feel like doing the math right now but to say the least, when weighed defensively and offensively, the Dragonhide banner is hands down an excellent choice for MFC over other options.

I rarely run MF, so I put the DHB on my maneaters for some killy fun.

Rerolling 1s on a 5+ or 6+ armor save is practically useless. The only real benifit is on the reroll to hit and wound.
Mournfangs make use of all the rerolls.
They practically reroll their 2+ armor save, so they are almost invincible against Str3 and 4.
Mournfang riders wound on 3s and the Mounts on 2s, so they make good use of the reroll 1s here as well.
