Skull Guts

original thread ↗

OK, so even though I am no real blog painter I thought I would start with one anyway. I do this for several reasons; I cut my time spent on other forums completely and only visit this one and the one our gaming club hosts. The other factor is that while I love to have a personal blog, few will visit and I do not intend to write about all things in general. Of course getting rid of all my other armies, terrain etc. that isn't spelled Ogre Kingdoms also helps.  :D

So I present my tribe that I named the Skull Guts.

My background is hazy and consists of ideas that have come and gone over the almost four years I have been collecting and painting Ogres. In short my tribe is on the eastern parts of Goldtooth's kingdom and is one of the tribes that has sworn utter loyalty to the Overtyrant. Currently they enforce the Overtyrant's will at the passages of the east and beyond but have been know to travel and crush things in other parts of the world.

Here is what I have painted so far (I got rid of some stuff not shown here that I am going to paint again):

Tyrant
Tyrant with pistols
Slaughtermaster/Butcher Maw
Slaughtermaster/Butcher Beast
Firebelly
Bruiser BSB
Bruiser
Hunter

28 Ogres
22 Ironguts

8 Maneaters
6 Yhetees
2 Gorgers
12 Sabretusks
4 Mournfangs

1 Stonehorn
2 Giants
2 Ironblasters

You can see some of my work here:

http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee48/SL-PN/Ogres/?start=all

This is what I intend to finish in the coming years (I am an on-off painter at best...) before they crumble to dust/rust in my drawer:

Slaughtermaster/Butcher Heaven
Slaughtermaster/Butcher Death
Firebelly - cancelled
Greasus Goldtooth
Golgfag
Skragg
Bragg

12 Ironguts (Greasus Guard)
50 Gnoblars - 7 done

4 Maneaters
8 Maneaters with pistols
6 Gorgers
8 Leadbelchers
3 Grimhorn Rhinox Riders
4 Mournfangs (just added)

1 Thundertusk
1 Giant - Done!
2 Ironblasters
2 Scraplaunchers

Currently I am working on a second Giant and two Leadbelchers.

Stay tuned for more! :)

Thanks folks!

Not much to show yet besides some pictires from my latest battle at 5K against an NG player (his "I wanna have fun" army - usually plays WE and Dwarfs) and while I pulverized him and it only lasted four turns it was a fun game (Battleline with tweaks - more magic dice, three objectives (tower, chapel, magic stone) worth 250 pts each at the end of turn 6, as well as twice the point values for the Banners and BSBs).

Not a battle report because I hate writing those but all in all I won because of my opponent putting one of his lvl 4s on a spider who failed his wardsave and caught a cannonball in turn one, totally blowing it with his vanguard, and failing two important animosity tests where it was cruicial that he didn't (he had to charge my units through 7 ball swirling fanatics).

Turn one... Cats run forward and pulls out fanatics

Turn one... Spider looks with horror when the boom-boom sound erupts from my Ironblasters (and shaman dies)

Turn one... My second Gut unit advances

Turn two/three... Two NG blocks with chars are forced to charge my units (one with sword of anti-heroes) I counter charge the next turn with my maneaters

Game over...

Holy slow update Batman!

It's been a sickly long time since I last gave my miniatures any attention. Several reasons for this: my company has been insanely time consuming, Skyrim has been a drug eating a lot of my time (got bored so I am off the computer for some time), and I have been busy with getting a group of roleplayers in our warhammer club together (more below).

But today I got myself the old Ogre itch back and built this new Firebelly. It is still very much WIP - still need to fix the joints, the filling out on the head to make the mask fit better, and add flames on and from the left hand towards the Burning Head (spell). I also need to find a fitting gutplate. I intend to finish the modell before saturday when we are having a small WFB tournament at a friend's house.

When it comes to roleplaying, which is my background but time is not as easy to come by in my old age, I bought the new reprints of some of my favorite rpgs books - D&D 3.5. With those I ebayed a lot of D&D modules like Return to Temple of Elemental Evil, Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk, The Greyhawk Gazetteer to name some. But mostly I have been buying a truckload of Otherworld miniatures like the below.

Well actually I blame Temple of Elemental Evil on my computer...

The mask is from the defiler kit and the burning head is from one of the storm of magic scenery kits I believe!
Open your eyes or the pain will flood in, thought for today is not to give in.

How I Painted My Ogres!

How I Painted My Thundertusk!

How I Painted My Mournfangs!
Thank you!

That is correct! :)

Long time, no post!

Haven't done much painting as I should and I decided to cancel my 2nd Firebelly (gave it to a "new" player in our club who just restarted his Ogres). I did manage to finish seven D&D miniatures but since I already have a Plog elsewhere for those I thought I would at least add one old-new mini that has found its way back into my collection. I am almost done with the retouch of my former Empire Giant (I had the green stuff commissioned) to a Maneater Giant. I still need to wash the skin more (it is not yellow as the odd picture shows), fix the base, and smooth some minor issues on the skin and clothing.

I have removed the pastel colours with a more muted look.

Edit: Finished the model (for now...)

My hood is my castle...
Got rid of my old Thundertusk which I didn't like and restarted painting a new one.

Hope to finish the beast this week.
My hood is my castle...
love that fur/skin tone on the tusk looks awesome. can not wait to see it fully painted
Those who live by the sword, get shot by those who don't.

Thanks! :)

I have not progressed much on the Tusk but I will do some more on the beast tomorrow.

In the meanwhile I got myself a Warshrine because I want new Gorgers so I have begun converting some stuff using the bearers, mino weapons, and some LotR stuff. There is still tons more to do especially with green stuff but I will replace my Gorgers with these sick looking brutes. I will most probably remove the pin head on the left dude and add something else.

My hood is my castle...
Cool! Nice job ;)
I love the idea of using those shrine bearers as Gorgers.  If I ever get to adding Gorgers to my army (I haven't even begun the army itself, yet!), this will probably be the way I go.

Cool head on the right-hand guy, too.
I hope you have no objections but I want to blatently rob that Firebelly conversion if I can ever get my hands on one of those burning skulls!!!!!

It's so awesome!
